About Avellana Run

L'Avellana Run is the annual road race held in Volano, in the heart of the Vallagarina valley, Trentino. Every spring, this 9.9 km race attracts competitive runners and enthusiasts to the streets surrounding the town, with the start and finish line at the Egidio Rigo Sports Field. Combined with the historic Trofeo Rigo Egidio and organized by ASD Made 2 Win Trenteam, it pairs a FIDAL-recognized competitive race with a non-competitive fun run, all wrapped up in a festive atmosphere featuring a traditional pasta party.

L'Avellana Run: The Volano Race

L'Avellana Run is the road race that brings Volano to life every spring. Located in the Vallagarina valley in the province of Trento, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, this event is organized by ASD Made 2 Win Trenteam. It features a 9.9-kilometer competitive race recognized by FIDAL (Italian Athletics Federation), alongside a non-competitive walk open to all enthusiasts.

A Course Through the Town Streets

The race kicks off at the Egidio Rigo Sports Field, which serves as both the start and finish point. The mixed-terrain course, featuring several uphill sections, winds through the streets around Volano, offering runners a challenging yet scenic route. The nearly ten-kilometer distance and elevation changes make the Avellana Run a popular event for runners from across Trentino and neighboring valleys, from Vallagarina to the Valle di Cembra.

The Trofeo Rigo Egidio

L'Avellana Run is linked to the historic Trofeo Rigo Egidio, a long-standing running tradition in Volano that has surpassed thirty editions. Over the years, the race has evolved into its current format as a FIDAL-certified road race, while maintaining the grassroots, community spirit of its origins. The sports field hosting the event is named after Egidio Rigo, a key figure in local sports.

The Night Edition

In recent years, the Avellana Run has adopted a Night Edition format. Starting in the evening, it offers participants the unique atmosphere of running at sunset and into the night. After the race, athletes and spectators gather for the award ceremony and the traditional pasta party, a convivial moment that concludes the day in a festive mood.

An Event for Everyone

Thanks to the combination of a competitive race and a non-competitive walk, the Avellana Run is an event suitable for both registered athletes and those who simply want to participate for the joy of running or walking in good company. Each edition attracts dozens of participants, with local sports clubs well-represented and a loyal crowd cheering on the runners along the course.
