The Andrian patronal festival concert

The Kirchtagskonzert der Musikkapelle Andrian is the annual concert that the brass band of the municipality of Andrian, in the Province of Bolzano (South Tyrol), dedicates to the community during the village's patronal festival, known as the Kirchtag. It is the highlight of the Musikkapelle's musical season, a moment where the bond between the band and its village is renewed before a loyal audience.

The Musikkapelle Andrian

The Andrian brass band is one of the village's most deeply rooted cultural institutions: founded in 1864, it has over a century and a half of history behind it, and in 2024 it celebrated its 160th anniversary with an open-air concert in the local industrial area. Today, the ensemble consists of about 40 musicians, both young and adult, and is a member of the Verband Südtiroler Musikkapellen (VSM), the association that brings together the brass bands of South Tyrol. The band accompanies village life throughout the year, including processions, festivals, performances with twin bands, and open-air concerts.

The evening

The Kirchtagskonzert takes place in the multi-purpose hall (Mehrzwecksaal) of Andrian, on Wehrburgstraße. The ensemble offers an evening of festive and engaging brass music, with a program designed for the occasion, ranging from traditional pieces to more modern works from the wind band repertoire. The atmosphere is typical of South Tyrolean band evenings: intimate, warm, and deeply communal.

A local event

Andrian is a small village nestled along the South Tyrolean Wine Road, among vineyards and orchards. The patronal festival and the band's concert represent one of the occasions when village life gathers around its traditions. Admission to the concert is free: the event is particularly recommended for those who wish to discover the authentic brass band culture of South Tyrol, which is quite different from that of large festivals, but no less heartfelt.

The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: the Musikkapelle Andrian usually publishes the program at short notice on its own channels. The 2025 edition took place on Saturday, February 22nd.
