About EppanPhil

EppanPhil is the most renowned collectors' fair in South Tyrol, held twice a year at the Raiffeisenhalle in San Michele, in the wine-growing town of Appiano. Collectors and dealers from Italy, Austria, and Germany showcase stamps, coins, postcards, pre-philatelic items, phone cards, holy cards, and antiques. Admission is free, and the event, organized by the Südtiroler Philatelisten Jugend, features a special corner dedicated to young collectors.

A collectors' fair in the heart of South Tyrol

EppanPhil is one of the most important collectors' fairs in South Tyrol, a must-attend event for philatelists, numismatists, and postcard enthusiasts who gather twice a year at the Raiffeisenhalle in San Michele, in the municipality of Appiano sulla strada del vino/Eppan an der Weinstraße, in the province of Bolzano. For one morning, the hall on Kapuzinergasse transforms into a bustling market where visitors can browse, search for, exchange, and trade small treasures of paper and metal.

What you will find

The selection is vast and diverse: alongside stamps and special postmarks, the stalls offer coins, vintage postcards, flown covers, pre-philatelic items, phone cards, holy cards, old photographs, and historical documents from the region. Those who have inherited a collection can ask exhibitors for an appraisal or find a buyer, while beginners can find expert advice and affordable material to start their own collection.

  • Stamps, special postmarks, and pre-philatelic items
  • Coins and small numismatics
  • Vintage postcards, photographs, and historical documents
  • Phone cards, holy cards, and collectible curiosities

An international event for the whole family

The fair attracts local collectors and dealers, as well as numerous exhibitors from Italy, Austria, and Germany, making EppanPhil a cross-border meeting point, typical of a bilingual province like Bolzano. The event is designed for all ages and experience levels: the atmosphere is informal and welcoming, making it ideal for those discovering the world of collecting for the first time.

A space for young people

Organized by the Südtiroler Philatelisten Jugend, the association for young South Tyrolean philatelists, EppanPhil pays special attention to children: boxes filled with a wide selection of stamps are available for them to choose from freely—a simple and fun way to get into philately and start their own collection.

When and where

The fair takes place at the Raiffeisenhalle in San Michele/Eppan, in the morning from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with free admission. Some editions of EppanPhil are held simultaneously or in coordination with its sister event, LanaPhil in Lana, another historic philatelic fair in the Trentino-South Tyrol region.
