The final of the national lead climbing circuit at the ADEL Climbing Wall in Campitello di Fassa
The Italian Lead Climbing Cup concludes its national circuit in Campitello di Fassa, in the Autonomous Province of Trento, in the heart of the Val di Fassa Dolomites. The third and final stage of the lead specialty circuit takes place at the ADEL Climbing Wall, one of the most prestigious climbing structures in the Alps, active since 1998 and host to over forty national and international competitions.
The name ADEL is an acronym for the four Val di Fassa Alpine Rescue volunteers – Alessandro, Diego, Erwin, and Luca – who were swept away by an avalanche in Val Lasties on December 26, 2009. The modern, technologically advanced facility features an outdoor sector for lead and top rope climbing up to 17 meters high with over 600 square meters of surface area, a speed-climbing sector, and a large indoor bouldering area. It is here, on the 15-meter lead wall, that the circuit's overall titles are decided.
In the lead specialty, athletes face brand-new routes with the goal of reaching the highest point of the wall: every hold conquered and the fluidity of the progression count. The classic program includes flash-style qualifiers on Saturday, followed by men's and women's semi-finals and finals on Sunday afternoon. At stake are the decisive points for the Italian Cup general classification and the overall circuit trophies.
The Campitello final features the best Italian lead specialists, many of whom are registered with military sports groups and historic climbing clubs such as Fiamme Oro, Ragni di Lecco, King Rock Climbing, and Arco Climbing, alongside athletes from the AVS Brixen club in South Tyrol. The Dolomite backdrop and free admission make the event a unique opportunity for the public to watch high-level sport climbing live.
Hosting the Italian Lead Cup final confirms the reputation of Campitello di Fassa and the ADEL Climbing Wall as a national benchmark for sport climbing, in a region – the Val di Fassa, in Trentino-South Tyrol – that blends Ladin mountaineering tradition, Dolomite nature, and outdoor culture.
The final of the 2026 Italian Lead Climbing Cup took place on June 13 and 14, 2026, at the ADEL Climbing Wall in Campitello di Fassa, following the stages in Pero and Varese. Saturday featured flash-style qualifiers on four routes (12:00 PM - 4:30 PM), while Sunday hosted the semi-finals starting at 10:00 AM and the finals between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
In the women's category, Savina Nicelli (Fiamme Oro) won both the stage and the overall Italian Cup title with 2455 points, ahead of Claudia Ghisolfi (1950) and Valentina Arnoldi (1845). Among the men, the overall title went to Giorgio Tomatis (Centro Sportivo Esercito) with 2380 points, ahead of Andrea Ludovico Chelleris (2105) and Ernesto Placci (1525); the final stage was won by Gianluca Vighetti (Escape) with a score of 51+. In the team rankings, Fiamme Oro took the win, ahead of Escape and AVS Brixen.
Campitello di Fassa can be reached by car from the A22 Brenner motorway (Egna-Ora or Bolzano Nord exit) by driving up the Val di Fassa. The ADEL Climbing Wall is located in Campitello di Fassa, in the Val di Fassa (Province of Trento).
Admission for the public is free. The competitions are also broadcast via live streaming on the FASI channels and on Sportface TV.
Val di Fassa offers numerous accommodation options; early booking is recommended during the summer season. Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the mountains, even for outdoor competitions.
