Flying Aperitivo – Aperitivo on the Mont de Sëura chairlift

An aperitivo that flies over the Dolomites

The Flying Aperitivo is one of the most original summer experiences in Val Gardena: instead of enjoying a drink at a table, guests board the Mont de Sëura chairlift, which departs from the Monte Pana plateau above Santa Cristina Valgardena in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). The chair glides slowly upward as your gaze drifts toward the imposing walls of the Sassolungo, the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.

How it works

The event takes place every Thursday at 6:00 PM at the base station of the Mont de Sëura chairlift in Monte Pana. The round trip takes approximately one hour. During the ride, an aperitivo is served with your choice of cocktail—a refreshing Hugo or a classic Veneziano (spritz)—accompanied by delicious appetizers and South Tyrolean specialties.

The atmosphere

It is the perfect blend of mountain serenity and the Italian dolce vita: the slow pace of the chairlift, the warm glow of the sunset on the Dolomite peaks, the scent of the Monte Pana pine forests, and the pleasure of a good drink in great company. This experience is designed for couples, families, and small groups looking for a special moment away from the crowds in one of the most picturesque corners of Val Gardena.

Participation is limited, and booking is mandatory by the previous day. You can book online via the Monte Pana website, at the Santa Cristina Tourist Office, or directly at the chairlift base station. In case of bad weather, the event will be postponed or cancelled.

Where and when

The Flying Aperitivo runs from June to early September, every Thursday evening, in Santa Cristina Valgardena (a bilingual Italian-Ladin-German municipality, St. Christina in Gröden). Monte Pana is easily accessible from the town center and serves as the gateway to the Sassolungo area and the trails of the Gardena basin.
