The Sparkasse ITF Tennis Val Gardena Südtirol is one of South Tyrol's most prestigious sporting events. Every year, the Roncadizza Tennis Center in Ortisei (Municipality of Ortisei/St. Ulrich, Province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige) transforms into a global tennis stage, drawing players from over a dozen different nations. Organized by the ASV Tennis Club Urtijëi, the tournament is played on medium-fast indoor hard courts, perfect for the autumn season in the mountains.

A long tradition since 1999

The tournament has its roots in 1999 and has been a staple of the Val Gardena valley for over twenty-five years. Throughout its history, it has evolved several times: starting as a stop on the women's ITF circuit, it grew to host a men's ATP Challenger for several years before returning, in 2024, to being an exclusively women's ITF Women's circuit tournament. Over its various editions, names that have shaped tennis history have graced the courts of Ortisei, a legacy that makes the Val Gardena event particularly cherished by local fans and enthusiasts.

ITF W50 category and WTA points

In its current format, the tournament belongs to the ITF W50 category, with a total prize pool of $40,000 and points valid for the WTA ranking up for grabs. The main draw brings together the best young prospects and established professionals from the international circuit, supported by a qualifying draw and a doubles competition. For many athletes, the week in Ortisei represents an important step in their climb up the world rankings.
