The premier functional fitness competition at the PalaFijlkam in Ostia
The Italian Bulls Game is one of the most prominent functional fitness (CrossFit) competitions in Italy. It is hosted at the PalaFijlkam, also known as PalaPellicone, the large arena within the Federal Olympic Center in Ostia, part of the municipality of Rome in the Lazio region, nestled between the sea and the coastal pine forest.
Born as a small local challenge in Pontecorvo, founded by Denny Tazza, Plinio, and Simone Caramadre, the event has expanded year after year, eventually moving to Ostia and attracting over 700 athletes. Despite its growth, it has maintained its raw, authentic roots, staying true to the 'Old School' spirit and the core values of the community.
The event spans two days and, in recent editions, utilizes two simultaneous competition arenas. Athletes tackle a series of preliminary workouts that test strength, gymnastics, and endurance, culminating in category finals. The event also features unique challenges, such as workouts held directly on the Ostia beach.
Team formats typically consist of two men and one woman, blending raw power with technical skill.
The event is a true festival: a chill area, exhibitor stands, food trucks, and hundreds of volunteers bring the venue to life. Admission is free for the public, who can follow the action on giant screens in an atmosphere that celebrates sport, social connection, and passion.
Every year, the Italian Bulls Game draws athletes from all over Italy and various European countries, featuring qualified speakers and judges. It is now a benchmark event for functional fitness in the Lazio region and throughout Central Italy.
