Walks, meetings, and flavors along the Panaro river, in the name of responsible tourism
IT.A.CÀ – Migrants and Travelers is the first Italian festival entirely dedicated to responsible tourism, a traveling event that each year crosses numerous Italian regions with a packed schedule of stops. The Valle Panaro stop is the Emilian heart of the festival and involves the Municipalities of Savignano sul Panaro, Spilamberto, Guiglia, and Castelvetro di Modena, in the Province of Modena, in Emilia-Romagna. It is an opportunity to discover the hills and ancient villages along the river on foot, far from the mass tourism circuits.
The 2026 edition is the eighteenth and is titled "Geographies of Peace". The festival proposes to transform borders from lines of separation into spaces for relationships, dialogue, and knowledge, telling the story of a territory where identity is not static but is born in movement and is built through passage. It is a vision that puts care at the center: of the places we cross, the relationships we build, and the people we meet along the way.
The stop's program combines different experiences, all focused on slowness and participation:
Founded in 2009 in Bologna, IT.A.CÀ is promoted by the association YODA APS and is internationally recognized for its approach to sustainable tourism. More than just a calendar of events, the Valle Panaro stop is an invitation to look at the Panaro Valley with new eyes: those of the traveler who takes the time to walk, listen, and taste, contributing to the regeneration of communities and landscapes.
The Emilian stop of the festival opens the 2026 edition and is divided into several weekends, from June 21 to early September, involving Savignano sul Panaro along with Spilamberto, Guiglia, and Castelvetro di Modena.
The festival kicks off with a walk of about 7 km in the Panaro River Park, accompanied by readings dedicated to peace, a yoga session, and a tasting of dishes prepared by the local foreign communities. On the same day, the photographic exhibition "Humanity in the Eyes" by Ivano Venturelli will be inaugurated, along with a taste of drinks and flavors from different communities.
The detailed calendar of individual events (times, precise locations, guests, and booking methods) will be published about a month before the start of each segment of the stop. The experiences, as per festival tradition, will include nature walks, meetings with authors and producers, workshops, and tastings of typical products from the Modena hills.
The detailed program for the late August and early September segments will be published about a month before the start of the stop, according to festival custom. Below are the events already announced.
Walks and excursions on the hills of Modena, meetings with authors and producers, workshops, and tastings of typical products between Savignano sul Panaro, Spilamberto, Guiglia, and Castelvetro di Modena. Details, times, and bookings to be published shortly before the events.
The Valle Panaro stop takes place in the Municipalities of Savignano sul Panaro, Spilamberto, Guiglia, and Castelvetro di Modena, in the Province of Modena. Many events are held in the Panaro River Park and the surrounding hills.
Savignano sul Panaro is reachable by car from the A1 motorway (Modena Sud or Valsamoggia exit) and via the Bazzanese road. The nearest train station is Vignola, on the Modena–Vignola line; bus connections are available from Modena and Bologna.
Many activities require booking for organizational reasons. The detailed program and registration methods will be published about a month before the start of each segment of the stop.
