About IT.A.CÀ Spilamberto

IT.A.CÀ – Migrants and Travellers is the first Italian festival dedicated to responsible tourism and stops in Spilamberto, in the Province of Modena, within the "Valle Panaro" segment. At the end of August, the Modena village hosts concerts, puppet shows, urban tours, meetings on accessibility and the right to travel, and an excursion to discover the former Convent of the Augustinian Monks. The 2026 edition, the eighteenth, has the theme "Geographies of Peace": an invitation to experience borders as thresholds to cross, not walls that divide.

The responsible tourism festival arrives in Spilamberto

IT.A.CÀ – Migrants and Travellers is the first Italian festival entirely dedicated to responsible tourism: a travelling event that crosses numerous regions of Italy every year with a packed schedule of stops, from June to October. In the heart of Emilia-Romagna, the festival stops in Spilamberto, a village in the Province of Modena overlooking the Panaro river, within the "Valle Panaro" segment which also includes Savignano sul Panaro, Guiglia, and Castelvetro di Modena.

Geographies of Peace: the 2026 theme

The 2026 edition is the eighteenth and is titled "Geographies of Peace". In a world crossed by conflicts, closures, and new frontiers, the festival proposes rethinking how we cross spaces and borders, transforming them from lines of separation into thresholds for meeting, dialogue, and knowledge. In Spilamberto, this means reflecting on accessibility and the right to travel and making space for the "Words that Walk" itinerary, a journey through memory and interculturality.

What to do at the Spilamberto stop

The program combines various experiences, all focused on slowness and participation:

  • Concerts and puppet shows, to liven up the squares and the historic centre of the village;
  • Urban tours to discover Spilamberto, its Rocca (fortress), and its traditions;
  • Excursion to the former Convent of the Augustinian Monks, where, according to tradition, Martin Luther was hosted;
  • Meetings and workshops on accessibility, the right to travel, and interculturality.

Tourism that regenerates territories

Founded in 2009 in Bologna, IT.A.CÀ is promoted by the association YODA APS and is nationally recognized for its approach to sustainable tourism. More than just a calendar of events, the Spilamberto stop is an invitation to look at the village and the Panaro Valley with new eyes: those of the traveller who takes the time to walk, listen, and taste, contributing to the regeneration of communities and landscapes. Spilamberto is also famous for its Traditional Balsamic Vinegar and for Bensone cake, and the stop is the perfect opportunity to discover this corner of the Modena hills in a slow and conscious way.
