Street food from five continents at Parco del Popolo in Reggio Emilia
International Street Food is Italy's largest travelling festival dedicated to street food and it stops at Parco del Popolo, the green lung in the centre of Reggio Emilia, in Emilia-Romagna. For three days, the park transforms into a large open-air kitchen, where dozens of food trucks and stands offer freshly prepared specialities, amidst aromas, flavours, and traditions from all over Italy and the world.
The gastronomic offering is deliberately diverse to satisfy every palate. Among the most popular specialities are 'puccia pontina', Abruzzese 'arrosticini', handmade 'olive all'ascolana', Maremma and Angus burgers, Apulian 'bombetta', and Sicilian cuisine. International influences are also present, with Argentinian and Greek cuisine, hot dogs, smoothies, and cocktails. To complete the experience, a curated selection of Italian and foreign craft beers, chosen to best accompany each dish.
International Street Food is an event designed for families, young people, and gastronomy enthusiasts. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is the convivial and informal one typical of major street food festivals: you sit, taste, chat, and discover, bite by bite, the variety of culinary traditions that the festival showcases.
The Reggio Emilia stop is part of the long national tour organised by A.I.R.S. - Associazione Italiana Ristoratori di Strada (Italian Association of Street Restaurateurs), chaired by Alfredo Orofino, in collaboration with Confartigianato Imprese of Modena-Reggio Emilia. Every year, the caravan of food trucks travels through numerous Italian cities, and Reggio Emilia is one of the historic venues on the circuit, capable of attracting thousands of visitors in the evocative setting of Parco del Popolo, a stone's throw from the historic centre.
Between tastings, the festival is also an opportunity to enjoy the park and experience the city: the Municipality of Reggio Emilia welcomes the event as one of the most anticipated in the local gastronomic calendar.
