Il Pane e le Rose, the summer that sings in Gallicano

Il Pane e le Rose is one of the most anticipated summer events in the municipality of Gallicano, in the heart of Garfagnana, in the province of Lucca (Tuscany). For about eleven consecutive nights, the local Sports Complex comes alive with food stalls, live music, and festivities, attracting visitors from across the Serchio Valley. The subtitle chosen for the 2026 edition, «Summer Rhythms and Scents», perfectly captures the spirit of the event: a blend of great food and concerts that appeals to families, young people, and music lovers alike.

A village festival of food and music

The convivial heart of the event is the dining area: the restaurant and beer garden open at 7:30 PM, serving traditional Garfagnana dishes and seafood specialties from the nearby Tyrrhenian coast. It is the perfect opportunity for an al fresco dinner before the concerts, in a relaxed and typically village-style atmosphere. Admission is free to all evenings, a choice that has always made the festival a popular and accessible event.

The concerts: from tributes to punk rock

From 9:30 PM, the stage at the Sports Complex hosts a different concert every night. The program alternates between tribute bands dedicated to the greatest names in Italian and international music and dance nights with DJ sets. The highlight of the 2026 edition was the concert by Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg: the legendary Ramones drummer brought the energy of American punk rock to Gallicano, a major event that resonated well beyond the borders of the Serchio Valley.

Alongside international legends, the lineup featured tributes highly loved by the Italian public: hits by Vasco Rossi, the show dedicated to Max Pezzali and 883, tributes to AC/DC and Pink Floyd, as well as party nights and 90s revivals designed to keep the crowd dancing until late.

Gallicano and the Garfagnana

Including the festival in the context of Gallicano means telling the story of a village in the Garfagnana, a land of mountains, chestnut forests, and strong gastronomic traditions, overlooking the Serchio river between the Apuan Alps and the Apennines. The event, organized by the A.S.D. Impianti Sportivi Gallicano together with the Pro Loco, is an expression of the local community and contributes to enlivening the town's summer, offering residents and visitors a chance to discover the hospitality of the lesser-known Tuscany, that of the Apennine valleys.
