The Scarlino stop of the itinerant festival that turns the Maremma into a natural stage
I Luoghi del Tempo is one of the most beloved festivals in the Tuscan Maremma: an itinerant event that for over fifteen years has guided audiences to discover villages, fortresses, villas, archaeological parks, and natural sites across the province of Grosseto and the Colline Metallifere. The concept is simple yet powerful: bringing art, words, and music to the most hidden and evocative corners of the territory, transforming every location into a natural stage. The sixteenth edition took place from May 29 to June 17, 2026, with eleven events held in as many municipalities.
Organised by the M.Arte Association under the artistic direction of Lorenzo Luzzetti, the festival is supported by the Tuscany Region, the Maremma library and archive network, the Maremma Museum System, and the Colline Metallifere National Technological and Archaeological Park. Each evening pairs a major figure from Italian culture with an exceptional landscape setting and a social moment dedicated to local products.
In Scarlino, in the heart of the Grosseto Maremma, the festival chooses a truly special location: the Terrarossa industrial archaeology site in Puntone, at the start of the scenic trail leading to Cala Martina and Cala Violina. A place where the industrial memory of the territory engages with nature, the sea, and the Mediterranean scrub, making it the perfect setting for an open-air performance and concert.
The Scarlino evening is one of the most anticipated on the programme, combining contemporary reflection with singer-songwriter music. It begins with a guided walk that leads the audience to discover the landscape and heritage of the Colline Metallifere Park, continues with a show and concert under the stars, and concludes with the unmissable aperitif featuring the gastronomic excellence of the Maremma.
Beyond Scarlino, the festival editions reach numerous municipalities in the Maremma and Colline Metallifere, including Castiglione della Pescaia, Civitella Paganico, Gavorrano, Roccastrada, Monterotondo Marittimo, Santa Fiora, Follonica, and the archaeological parks of Roselle and Cosa in Ansedonia. This itinerant formula has become the hallmark of the event and an original way to promote the cultural and environmental identity of southern Tuscany.
I Luoghi del Tempo in Scarlino is much more than an evening of entertainment: it is a way of narrating the Maremma and its communities through landscape, memory, and art, making even the most evocative and lesser-known places in the province of Grosseto the protagonists.
On Sunday, June 7, 2026, the Terrarossa industrial archaeology site in Puntone di Scarlino hosted one of the most anticipated evenings of I Luoghi del Tempo, the sixteenth edition of the itinerant festival of the Tuscan Maremma. The protagonists were actor Valerio Aprea and singer-songwriter The Niro, for an event that combined words, contemporary reflection, and open-air singer-songwriter music, between the sea and the Mediterranean scrub.
The evening opened at 6:00 PM with a guided walk alongside Valerio Aprea and Marco Bizzarri, head of the Colline Metallifere National Park Gate, coordinated by journalist Emilio Guariglia. It continued with a concert by The Niro and concluded with an aperitif featuring typical Maremma products. The Terrarossa stop was sold out, confirming its status as one of the most beloved moments of the programme.
The evening was part of the sixteenth edition of I Luoghi del Tempo (May 29 โ June 17, 2026), which visited eleven municipalities in the Maremma and Colline Metallifere with guests such as Jacopo Fo, Paolo Jannacci, Guido Catalano, Mario Tozzi, Ascanio Celestini, and Giobbe Covatta. The Terrarossa stop was sold out.
