The summer festival of theatre, music, and comedy in the village of Moscufo
I Colori del Borgo is a summer live performance festival that brings Moscufo, a Vestine village in the province of Pescara, Abruzzo, to life every year. Established in 2018 by the Cultour Moscufo cultural association, led by Mimmo Ferri, the festival's main stage is the charming Piazza Garibaldi, the heart of the historic centre. Between July and August, the square hosts a series of completely free evenings featuring theatre, music, and comedy.
The stated goal of Cultour Moscufo goes beyond mere entertainment: the festival was created to combat the depopulation of the area's inland communities and to restore opportunities for social interaction to the village's summer nights. Each edition offers a varied programme that alternates between dialect theatre, musical satire, cabaret, and live concerts, with a special focus on artistic quality and local community participation.
Located on the gentle Vestine hills, a short distance from the Pescara coast, the Municipality of Moscufo is known for the Church of Santa Maria del Lago, famous for its 12th-century Romanesque ambo, one of the masterpieces of medieval Abruzzese art. In this setting of stone and tradition, I Colori del Borgo serves as a defining summer event, capable of attracting audiences from neighbouring towns and showcasing the region's heritage.
The festival's programme ranges from rock bands to cover acts, from dialect theatre by local Abruzzese amateur companies to shows by nationally renowned comedians and cabaret artists, as well as singer-songwriter concerts. Evenings generally begin late, between 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM, to take advantage of the cool summer air in the village. The event is made possible thanks to the support of the Fondazione PescarAbruzzo, the Municipality of Moscufo, and the Abruzzo Region.
The 2026 edition of I Colori del Borgo offers four events in Piazza Garibaldi in Moscufo, all with free admission. It kicks off on July 18 with the dialect comedy "Ma ij mo duva li mette qué?" by the Lu Passatempe Theatre Company. On August 1, there will be musical satire with the Dado Show; on August 8, the "Emozioni Acoustic" concert by Gianmarco Carroccia dedicated to Italian singer-songwriters; and the grand finale on August 29 with the Tequila & Montepulciano Band and their "Tarantella Live" show. The festival is supported by the Fondazione PescarAbruzzo, the Municipality of Moscufo, and the Abruzzo Region.
Moscufo can be reached by car from the A14 motorway (Pescara Nord-Città Sant'Angelo exit) or the A25, continuing along the provincial roads that climb the Vestine hills. It is about a 20-minute drive from Pescara.
All festival shows are free of charge.
Events take place primarily in Piazza Garibaldi, in the historic centre of Moscufo.
