Hunter's Festival

A festival dedicated to the world of hunting

The Hunter's Festival is one of the most distinctive summer events in Comitini, a small town in the inland Agrigento area of Sicily. Established in 2018, the festival devotes two intense days to the hunting world, rural traditions, and game-based gastronomy, transforming the town's historic center into a vibrant space for popular celebration. The event is promoted by the Pro Loco of Comitini in collaboration with the Municipality, the Sicilian Hunting Federation, and the National Free Hunting Association.

The event program

The festival combines cultural insights with a rich calendar of entertainment for all ages. In previous editions, the program has brought together numerous activities, primarily held in Piazza Umberto I and the historic Palazzo Bellacera:

• Industry conferences on the theme of hunting, its role, and its future, with special attention to Sicilian dog breeds such as the Cirneco dell'Etna;
• Hunter's market featuring the display and sale of clothing, footwear, accessories, and specialized equipment;
• Tastings of traditional game dishes and local products, accompanied by Sicilian red wines;
• Dog show and exhibitions of the main breeds used in hunting;
• Falconry demonstrations with birds of prey;
• Themed games, live music, cabaret, and group dancing in the square;
• Fireworks display to close the festival.

Tradition and rural identity

The event is much more than a simple gastronomic festival: it represents an opportunity to rediscover the hunting and farming culture of the Sicilian hinterland, a heritage made of knowledge, peasant cuisine, and a deep connection with the land. The Hunter's Festival attracts visitors from neighboring towns in the province of Agrigento and helps promote a small village that, for two days, becomes a reference point for enthusiasts and curious visitors alike.
