The festival of colors at Parco Villa delle Rose
Holi Color Day is the grand festival of colors that brings the Parco Villa delle Rose to life every June 2nd in the heart of Lanciano, in the province of Chieti. Inspired by the famous Indian Holi festival and reinterpreted with a popular Abruzzese flair, the event turns the city park into an open-air stage where music, dance, and clouds of colored powder mingle to launch the summer season.
Launched in 2023, Holi Color Day is designed as a moment of connection for the entire community: families, young people, and children gather for a day of celebration where famous color cannons paint the air to the rhythm of music. The powders used are non-toxic and plant-based, easily washable with water, ensuring the fun remains safe for both adults and children.
The program features a rotating lineup of local DJs, bands, and artists, with color throws scheduled throughout the day. There is no shortage of inflatable play areas, professional entertainment, a food and beverage area, and activities dedicated to the little ones, making the event a true multidisciplinary outdoor celebration.
Organized by the St-Art Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Lanciano, Holi Color Day is part of the city's cultural programming and coincides with the Republic Day, helping to make June 2nd one of the most colorful and popular days of the year in the city. The setting of Parco Villa delle Rose, a green space in the center of Lanciano, offers the ideal backdrop for an event that draws thousands of participants from across Abruzzo.
A town in the province of Chieti known for its medieval historic center and the traditions of the Lanciano Fairs, Lanciano complements its cultural heritage with a lively program of contemporary events. Holi Color Day represents one of the youngest and most dynamic appointments in the city's calendar, capable of blending festive tradition with pop culture in the Abruzzo region.
The 2026 edition of Holi Color Day took place on June 2nd at Parco Villa delle Rose in Lanciano, marking the return of the event after three years. From 2:00 PM to midnight, the city park hosted color throws, artistic performances, and live music, with free entry for everyone.
The stage featured rappers Le-One and Dodoj, the band Prohibida, and numerous Abruzzese DJs and vocalists, with hosting duties handled by Un Fregno Abruzzese and Lory Voice. The non-toxic, plant-based colored powders tinted the air throughout the day, in an event designed for families and young people, organized by the St-Art Association as part of the Lanciano Cultura 2026 program.
Time: 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM
