The cheese that tells the story of Lessinia

At over 1,000 meters above sea level, in the Lessini mountains of the province of Verona, Monte Veronese DOP is the result of centuries of alpine pastoralism. The municipality of Erbezzo, in the heart of this territory, pays homage to it with the Historical Festival of Monte Veronese DOP Cheese, which in 2026 will reach its 34th edition: an event that combines tradition, taste, and rural culture.

A day among producers and tradition

Throughout the day, Piazza della Chiesa and the streets of the center host stalls from malga producers, where you can taste and buy Monte Veronese DOP in its various aging stages, along with other typical Veronese products. The highlight is the parade in traditional costumes in Piazza del Municipio, which culminates with the award ceremony for the "Best Monte Veronese DOP" and the solemn investiture of the new Councilors of the "Eccelsa et Insigne Arte dei Formaggeri" (Noble and Distinguished Art of Cheese Makers).

Flavors, music, and tastings

The Pro Loco of Erbezzo opens the gastronomic stand with traditional Lessinia mountain dishes, while the afternoon comes alive with the sounds of Cimbrian accordions, the gathering of the Bernese Mountain Dog Friends, and the concert of the Grezzana City Band. In the Sala Civica, a guided tasting dedicated to the award-winning cheeses and Monte Veronese di Malga, recognized by the Slow Food Presidium, is held.

An event that defies bad weather

Promoted by the Consortium for the Protection of Monte Veronese Cheese in synergy with the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Erbezzo, the event takes place even in case of bad weather. It is the ideal opportunity to discover Lessinia, its DOP cheese, and a cheese-making culture rooted in centuries past.
