Three weekends dedicated to the Monte Baldo Marrone DOP
The Festival of Chestnuts and Marrone DOP of San Zeno is the major autumn festival in San Zeno di Montagna, in the province of Verona, overlooking Lake Garda at the foot of Monte Baldo. The event combines the historic Chestnut Festival with the Festival of the San Zeno DOP Marrone, organized by the Protection Consortium together with the Municipality. It is dedicated to the local chestnut, the first chestnut in Italy to obtain the DOP designation.
The festival takes place over three weekends between mid-October and early November. The protagonist is the chestnut exhibition and market, with direct sales from producers, alongside tastings of dishes made with chestnuts, music, and entertainment. Among the most anticipated events is the Marron d'Oro competition, which awards the best fruits of the season.
Every year, the festival attracts thousands of tourists, including from abroad, who come to San Zeno di Montagna to discover the DOP chestnut and the flavours of the Monte Baldo autumn. It's an opportunity to experience one of the most scenic villages on Lake Garda, with views of the lake and mountains, during the most picturesque time of the year.
The 2026 edition of the Festival of Chestnuts and Marrone DOP will, according to tradition, offer three weekends of celebration between mid-October and early November in San Zeno di Montagna. Organized by the Consortium for the Protection of the San Zeno DOP Marrone and the Municipality, it will feature a chestnut exhibition and market, tastings, music, and the Marron d'Oro competition. The precise dates and detailed program will be published by the Consortium closer to the event.
