The Monti Dauni wheat celebration at Molino De Vita
The Harvest Festival is the annual June event where Molino De Vita celebrates the durum wheat harvest in the fields of Casalvecchio di Puglia, a small Arbëreshë town in the province of Foggia. This is no ordinary festival; it is a celebration of the land and farming heritage, a moment when the year's harvest becomes an opportunity to share the entire journey from grain to semolina and, finally, to pasta.
The heart of the event lies in the golden fields surrounding the mill along the S.P. 11 road. Here, visitors are invited to walk through the wheat and witness threshing with a 1930s vintage harvester, a demonstration that brings the traditional harvesting methods of the Capitanata region back to life. The durum wheat of the Monti Dauni, an extraordinary raw material of this area, is showcased by producers, researchers, and the new generations of the De Vita family, who have made traceability and the Italian supply chain their hallmark.
After visiting the fields and the mill, the festival culminates in the Wheat Table, a convivial lunch featuring traditional Apulian durum wheat dishes prepared by local chefs. The day is accompanied by the music of the local Arbëreshë folk group, a living testament to the Italo-Albanian culture that has defined Casalvecchio di Puglia for centuries. Floral design, the art of baking, and the flavors of the Tavoliere intertwine in a narrative that blends tradition, agriculture, and gastronomic excellence.
The Harvest Festival was born from the collaboration between Molino De Vita and some of the most prestigious Gragnano PGI pasta factories, such as Pastificio dei Campi and Pastificio Di Martino, which choose the semolina from this corner of Puglia for their pasta. Each edition brings together producers, institutions, and enthusiasts around a simple yet powerful idea: Italian wheat as a core identity, the starting point for great pasta, and a symbol of a community that has never stopped working the land.
On June 16, 2026, the Harvest Festival celebrated an important milestone: the 30th anniversary of Molino De Vita in Casalvecchio di Puglia. The edition, curated by floral designer Flavia Panacciulli (Verdi Emozioni) and baker Fabio Boncristiano of Panificio Pastamadre in San Severo, featured the extraordinary participation of Pastificio Di Martino, a symbol of Gragnano PGI pasta worldwide. Among the fields of the Tavoliere, the tradition of harvesting, the art of baking, and floral design intertwined in a celebration that reaffirmed the deep bond between the wheat of the Monti Dauni and great Italian pasta.
The 2026 edition, celebrated on June 16 in the fields of Molino De Vita in Casalvecchio di Puglia, centered on the 30th anniversary of the company and the presence of Pastificio Di Martino. As per tradition, the day combined a walk through the wheat and a threshing demonstration in the fields, the story of the durum wheat supply chain, and the convivial moment of the Wheat Table with local dishes. The arrangements were signed by floral designer Flavia Panacciulli and baker Fabio Boncristiano.
