About Granfondo Romagna

The Granfondo Romagna is the mountain bike race that every spring brings hundreds of bikers along the trails of the Tuscan-Romagnol Apennines, starting and finishing in Bagno di Romagna, in the thermal heart of the province of Forlì-Cesena. Challenging routes among panoramic ridges, beech forests, and single tracks, a dedicated gravel path, and a family ride for everyone: the event combines sport, nature, and Romagnol hospitality, concluding with the traditional pasta party at the Sant'Agnese Thermal Baths park.

A granfondo in the heart of the Romagnol Apennines

The Granfondo Romagna is a mountain bike event held in Bagno di Romagna, a spa town in the province of Forlì-Cesena, in Emilia-Romagna. Founded in 2024, in just a few editions it has become a reference point in the region's MTB calendar, attracting hundreds of participants each year, including racers, cycle tourists, gravel riders, and families.

Organized by Bike-Advisor ASD with the support of ASD Comero Bike, the Pro Loco of Bagno di Romagna, and the patronage of the Municipality, the race takes place along the trails and forest roads of the Tuscan-Romagnol Apennines, amidst panoramic ridges, beech woods, and trails descending towards the Savio river valley.

Routes for all levels

The strength of the Granfondo Romagna lies in its multiple offerings, designed to welcome both those seeking a competitive challenge and those who simply want to ride immersed in nature:

  • Long Route — the main course for racers and cycle tourists, around 40 km with approximately 1,550 meters of elevation gain, featuring tough climbs and technical single-track descents.
  • Short Route — a reduced version that shares the first section and branches off with more manageable descents, ideal for those new to the sport.
  • Romagna Selvaggia Gravel — a gravel itinerary of about 66 km on dirt and forest roads, among the most scenic in the Romagnol Apennines.
  • Family Ride — a guided tour of about 20 km and 500 meters of elevation gain, also open to e-bikes, for a family experience.

More than a race: a celebration for the territory

The Granfondo Romagna is not just about competition; the headquarters at the Terme Sant'Agnese becomes the meeting point for the entire off-road community for a weekend. Saturday includes official reconnaissance and training rides, while on Sunday, after the finish, the event concludes with a hearty pasta party and awards ceremony, in a festive atmosphere that involves athletes, companions, and residents of Bagno di Romagna.

The event fully enhances the identity of a territory known for its thermal waters and the natural heritage of the Casentinesi Forests National Park, offering bikers unique landscapes and typically Romagnol hospitality.

An event included in major MTB circuits

Over the years, the Granfondo Romagna has joined the main Italian off-road circuits, hosting a stage of the Tour3Regioni and races valid for the FCI federal calendar, even welcoming Elite and Under 23 categories. This is a recognition of the technical level of the routes and the organizational quality, making this event in Bagno di Romagna one of the most beloved mountain bike granfondos in the Apennines.

Granfondo Romagna — edition 2026

The third edition of the Granfondo Romagna took place on Sunday, May 24, 2026, in Bagno di Romagna, with approximately 500 registered participants divided among Elite, amateur racers, gravel riders, cycle tourists, and families. A stage of the Tour3Regioni and a round of the FCI regional championship, this edition saw the Elite and Under 23 categories compete for the first time.

The 2026 edition of the Granfondo Romagna confirmed the growth of the Bagno di Romagna event, with around 500 participants and, for the first time, the opening to Elite and Under 23 categories. The race was valid as the third stage of the Tour3Regioni and as a round of the FCI regional championship.

The main technical novelty concerned the descent from the Mountain Grand Prix: abandoning the Ridracoli mule track and the Devil's Tooth, a new, smoother track towards Monte Frullo was introduced, leading to the panoramic ridge of Rio Petroso. The day concluded with the usual pasta party at the Sant'Agnese Thermal Baths park.
