In Gorizia, a border city between Italy and Slovenia, New Year's Eve has a special flavor. Every December 31st, the scenic Piazza Vittoria, at the foot of the Castle, becomes the stage for the big city celebration: a free event, organized by the Municipality of Gorizia as part of the Gorizia December, which attracts thousands of people to welcome the new year together.

Music until Midnight and Beyond

The evening's program focuses on live music: starting at 10 PM, the stage comes alive with bands playing national and international hits, warming up the square until the countdown. After midnight, the party continues with urban and reggaeton sounds, for dancing until the early hours under the city lights.

Silent Fireworks from the Castle

The most evocative moment arrives at midnight, when the fireworks display lights up from the courtyard of Gorizia's Castle. A special event, as the fireworks are largely silent, a choice made to respect animals and more sensitive individuals, without sacrificing the magic of lights above the city rooftops.

Ice, Taste, and the First Day of the Year

Enhancing the evening are the ice skating rink set up in the square and the food stalls. To ensure safety, access is regulated with checkpoints and controls, and a maximum capacity limit. The celebration doesn't end at midnight: on January 1st, the Piazza Vittoria stage hosts a comedy show, to start the year with a smile.
