Gorizia's Christmas

When winter arrives, Gorizia dresses up for the holidays. Gorizia December is the city's major Christmas event hub, a widespread calendar that runs from late November until January 6th, animating the squares and streets of the city center with lights, music, markets, and traditions. Organized by the Municipality of Gorizia with the support of the Region, PromoTurismoFVG, and local entities, it's the event that accompanies Gorizia residents and visitors throughout the festive season.

Ice, Lights, and Markets

The heart of the festivities is Piazza Vittoria, where the ice skating rink is set up every year, while the Christmas market with its wooden stalls, artisan products, and festive flavors comes alive at the Public Gardens. Illuminations, 3D drawings, and videomapping transform buildings and squares, including the evocative Piazza Transalpina, a symbol of the cross-border city.

The Little Train and Shows

Among the most popular attractions is the cross-border little train, which connects the various event locations between Italy and Slovenia, along with carousels, musical performances, and drone shows. There's also the Nativity scene, a true Gorizia Christmas institution, and a packed program of concerts and events for all ages.

The Grand New Year's Eve Finale

Gorizia December culminates with the New Year's Eve celebrations in Piazza Vittoria, featuring live music, DJ sets, and the midnight fireworks display from the Castle, continuing until Epiphany. A celebration lasting over a month that showcases Gorizia's welcoming and Central European spirit.
