A dinner concert in the square and a sunset toast among the hills of Monferrato
Every spring, Golosaria Monferrato transforms dozens of villages across the provinces of Asti and Alessandria into a vast map of culinary delights. Ponzano Monferrato — a small town in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont — is one of the key stops on this widespread itinerary. The event, conceived by food and wine journalist Paolo Massobrio and organized by Club Papillon as part of ilGolosario, connects over forty locations united by a common thread: taste, home, and the hills, which are now recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Nestled on the gentle slopes of the Basso Monferrato, halfway between Casale Monferrato and Moncalvo, Ponzano is a charming village defined by vineyards, hazelnut groves, and panoramic views. The town preserves the parish church of Sant'Antonio Abate and the church of San Giovanni Battista — the patron saint, celebrated on June 24th — and overlooks the territory from the evocative Monte Oliveto Belvedere, one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the area, perfect for admiring the sunset over the hills.
For its twentieth anniversary, Ponzano offers two events that weave together conviviality, music, and landscape:
These are intentionally intimate gatherings, in line with the spirit of the festival: to discover the authentic, less-traveled side of Monferrato, where every village adds a piece to the great mosaic of taste.
Participating in Golosaria in Ponzano means becoming part of a larger journey: the village is part of an itinerary that connects Camino, Odalengo Piccolo, Serralunga di Crea, and Moncalvo. From here, you can reach the beating heart of the festival, the Castle of Casale Monferrato, featuring ilGolosario exhibitors, the "Barbera & Champagne" format, and street food. The festival's unique structure allows you to build your own path, alternating stops in Ponzano with those in neighboring towns among the vineyard-covered hills of Monferrato.
In 2026, Golosaria Monferrato celebrated its 20th edition on Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, with the theme "Taste, Home, and Hills" and over forty locations involved across the provinces of Asti and Alessandria. In Ponzano Monferrato, part of the itinerary connecting Camino, Odalengo Piccolo, Serralunga di Crea, and Moncalvo, the program combined conviviality, music, and landscape.
On Saturday, May 16, at 8:00 PM, Piazza Unità d'Italia hosted a dinner concert in the heart of the village; on Sunday, May 17, at 6:00 PM, the Monte Oliveto Belvedere provided the setting for a sunset toast to Monferrato. The heart of the festival remained the Castle of Casale Monferrato, featuring ilGolosario exhibitors, the "Barbera & Champagne" format, and street food.
Throughout the Monferrato region, the center of the event was the Castle of Casale Monferrato with the "Barbera & Champagne" format, ilGolosario exhibitors, and street food.
Ponzano Monferrato can be reached by car from the A26 motorway (Casale Monferrato Sud exit) or the A21 Turin-Piacenza motorway, continuing along the hilly roads of the Basso Monferrato. The most convenient train station is in Casale Monferrato; alternatively, you can arrive via Asti or Alessandria and continue by car.
The events in Ponzano take place on Saturday evening in Piazza Unità d'Italia and on Sunday in the late afternoon at the Monte Oliveto Belvedere.
