A regional fair dedicated to the white truffle

The Valle Ghenza Regional White Truffle Fair is one of the most anticipated autumn events in the Monferrato region. Held annually in Cella Monte, a charming village in the province of Alessandria, Piedmont, it celebrates the Tuber magnatum Pico, the prized white truffle that thrives in the woods of the Valle Ghenza. Recognized as a fair of regional significance, the event attracts thousands of visitors, food lovers, and curious travelers each year, all drawn by the unmistakable scent of truffles and the beauty of one of Monferrato's most picturesque villages.

The truffle and local produce market

The heart of the fair is the market winding through the historic center of Cella Monte: stalls featuring professional truffle hunters (trifolao) with fresh seasonal truffles, local food and wine producers, and regional artisans. Alongside the truffles, you will find the great wines of Monferrato, local cheeses, cured meats, and Piedmontese specialties, from agnolotti pasta and Fassona beef tartare to grilled tomino cheese and eggs with shaved truffles.

Lunches, dinners, and show cooking under the marquee

Under the large marquee set up for the occasion, local Pro Loco associations serve lunches and dinners featuring traditional dishes enhanced by the white truffle. The program also includes show cooking sessions with local chefs, guided tastings, and perfect pairings with Monferrato wines.

Truffle hunts and excursions in Valle Ghenza

Among the most popular experiences are the guided truffle hunts with professional trifolao and their Lagotto Romagnolo dogs, as well as walking and e-bike excursions through the woods and hills of the Valle Ghenza to discover the natural habitat where truffles grow. The event also hosts cultural conferences, presentations, and entertainment for families and children.

The infernot and the UNESCO landscape

Cella Monte is the capital of the infernot, small underground cellars hand-carved into the typical pietra da cantoni (cantoni stone), which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Vineyard Landscapes of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato. During the fair, visitors can explore these unique spaces and the Ecomuseum of the Pietra da Cantoni, which chronicles the geological and human history of this corner of Monferrato.

An event by the Municipality and local associations

The event is organized by the Municipality of Cella Monte in collaboration with the Pro Loco and the Cinque Quinti winery, with the support of local institutions.
