A journey through art, taste, and nature in the village of Grana
Every spring, Golosaria Monferrato transforms dozens of villages in the provinces of Asti and Alessandria into a single great map of taste, and Grana — a small municipality in the Province of Asti, in Piedmont — is one of the most evocative stops on this widespread itinerary. The event, conceived by food and wine journalist Paolo Massobrio and organized by Club Papillon as part of ilGolosario, connects over forty locations united by the common thread of the territory: taste, home, and the hills, now recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
In Grana, the day unfolds on foot between the historic center and its iconic landmarks. The spiritual and artistic heart is the Maria Assunta Parish Church, where you can visit the parish museum and paintings attributed to Caccia, while the former School Palace hosts art exhibitions set up in its historic rooms. From the Belvedere, the view opens up over the Monferrato hills, a panorama that alone is worth the stop.
The program intertwines food, wine, and outdoor wellness:
Everything takes place within walking distance, in a festive atmosphere that involves the Pro Loco, local associations, and Monferrato producers.
Participating in Golosaria in Grana means discovering the authentic face of the Asti Monferrato: cozy villages, family-run wineries, art-filled churches, and hills sculpted by vineyards. The widespread festival format allows you to build your own itinerary, alternating stops in Grana with those in neighboring municipalities and the heart of the event, the Castle of Casale Monferrato.
In 2026, Golosaria Monferrato celebrated its 20th edition, on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17, with the theme "Taste, Home, Hills" and over forty locations involved across the provinces of Asti and Alessandria. In Grana, the program combined food, wine, and culture in a route to be enjoyed on foot in the historic center.
Highlights included: wine tastings with pinzimonio, Monferrato olive oil paired with fresh vegetables, guided tours of the Maria Assunta Parish Church and Caccia's paintings, art exhibitions in the rooms of the former School Palace, and the panoramic view from the Belvedere over the UNESCO hills.
Throughout Monferrato, the heart of the event was the Castle of Casale Monferrato with the «Barbera & Champagne» format, the Food Festival, and street food kitchens.
Grana can be reached by car from the A21 Turin-Piacenza motorway (Asti Est exit) or from the A26, continuing along the hilly roads of Monferrato. The most convenient train station is Asti, well connected from Turin and Alessandria, from where you can continue by car or local connections.
Events in Grana generally take place from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday.
