A month of village festivities featuring markets, cycling tours, and evenings at the Parco della Torre
Giugno Romanese is one of the four major annual events in Romano Canavese, a small village in the Ivrea morainic amphitheater, in the province of Turin, in the heart of the Piedmontese Canavese. Alongside the Carnival, the Patronal Feast of San Prospero, and the Christmas events, it marks the village's calendar and is organized by the Municipality of Romano Canavese with the essential collaboration of the local Pro Loco, which has been active since 1970.
This is not a large-scale stage festival, but a widespread series of initiatives that fill the month of June: markets, solidarity events, activities for children, environmental commitment, and culinary conviviality. It is the festival where the community gathers outdoors, between the village streets and the greenery of the Parco della Torre.
The program changes from year to year but revolves around several traditional appointments:
The social heart of the event is the Parco della Torre, the green area surrounding the ancient watchtower, which is all that remains of the medieval castle destroyed during the Tuchini Revolt in the 14th century. The tower, the symbol of Romano Canavese, still dominates the village from the top of the hill. Those attending Giugno Romanese can take the opportunity to discover the charming medieval ricetto (fortified granary), with its North and South Gates, where traces of the ancient drawbridge are still visible.
Giugno Romanese is a portrait of Piedmontese village life: no spectacular pretensions, but plenty of participation, volunteering, and a desire to be together. For those visiting the Canavese at the start of summer, it is an authentic opportunity to get to know a small community, its Pro Loco, and its history-rich village, just a few kilometers from Ivrea and Lake Viverone.
The Giugno Romanese 2026 in Romano Canavese (TO) focuses on the last two weekends of June, with a calendar of initiatives organized by the Municipality, the Pro Loco, and local associations. Markets, charity activities, evenings at the Parco della Torre, and moments dedicated to inclusion make up a program designed for the entire community and visitors to the Canavese region.
The month is traditionally completed by the cycling rally, the children's bike ride, and the 'Puliamo Romano' ecological day. For detailed times and updates, please refer to the attached flyers published by the Municipality and the Pro Loco channels.
