About Giugno Romanese

Giugno Romanese is the annual festival that brings Romano Canavese to life throughout the month of June. Located in the heart of the Canavese region near Turin, the event is organized by the local municipality and the Pro Loco. It features flea markets, cycling rallies, a children's bike ride, the 'Puliamo Romano' ecological initiative, live entertainment, and the unmissable gastronomic evenings at the Parco della Torre, set at the foot of the village's iconic medieval tower. It is a simple, authentic community festival, perfect for discovering the traditions of the Ivrea morainic amphitheater.

A month-long village festival

Giugno Romanese is one of the four major annual events in Romano Canavese, a small village in the Ivrea morainic amphitheater, in the province of Turin, in the heart of the Piedmontese Canavese. Alongside the Carnival, the Patronal Feast of San Prospero, and the Christmas events, it marks the village's calendar and is organized by the Municipality of Romano Canavese with the essential collaboration of the local Pro Loco, which has been active since 1970.

This is not a large-scale stage festival, but a widespread series of initiatives that fill the month of June: markets, solidarity events, activities for children, environmental commitment, and culinary conviviality. It is the festival where the community gathers outdoors, between the village streets and the greenery of the Parco della Torre.

What to expect at Giugno Romanese

The program changes from year to year but revolves around several traditional appointments:

  • Flea and charity markets, such as 'L'Asilo dei Ricordi', set up in the courtyard of the historic nursery school, featuring a raffle and snacks for participants.
  • Cycling rally and children's bike ride, to experience the local area on two wheels.
  • 'Puliamo Romano', the ecological day dedicated to caring for public spaces and the environment.
  • Gastronomic evenings and music at the Parco della Torre, where the Pro Loco hosts dinners, barbecues, and dance nights.
  • Cultural and social initiatives promoted by local associations, also focusing on themes of disability and inclusion.

The Parco della Torre and the medieval village

The social heart of the event is the Parco della Torre, the green area surrounding the ancient watchtower, which is all that remains of the medieval castle destroyed during the Tuchini Revolt in the 14th century. The tower, the symbol of Romano Canavese, still dominates the village from the top of the hill. Those attending Giugno Romanese can take the opportunity to discover the charming medieval ricetto (fortified granary), with its North and South Gates, where traces of the ancient drawbridge are still visible.

A tradition that builds community

Giugno Romanese is a portrait of Piedmontese village life: no spectacular pretensions, but plenty of participation, volunteering, and a desire to be together. For those visiting the Canavese at the start of summer, it is an authentic opportunity to get to know a small community, its Pro Loco, and its history-rich village, just a few kilometers from Ivrea and Lake Viverone.

Giugno Romanese โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Giugno Romanese confirms its widespread format, with a central weekend full of events between June 20 and 27 and an appendix at the beginning of July. It ranges from the 'L'Asilo dei Ricordi' flea market to the Pro Loco's gastronomic evenings at the Parco della Torre, including moments dedicated to inclusion and disability.

The Giugno Romanese 2026 in Romano Canavese (TO) focuses on the last two weekends of June, with a calendar of initiatives organized by the Municipality, the Pro Loco, and local associations. Markets, charity activities, evenings at the Parco della Torre, and moments dedicated to inclusion make up a program designed for the entire community and visitors to the Canavese region.
