Carisolo's Ferragosto festival, featuring games, music, and the 'church fire' spectacle
Every year in mid-August, the small town of Carisolo, nestled at an altitude of 800 meters at the entrance to the Val di Genova in Val Rendena, becomes the beating heart of summer fun with Giocolandia. The event, conceived and organized with passion by the Pro Loco of Carisolo, takes over the central Piazza 2 Maggio, transforming the village into a large open-air playground designed for families, children, and those spending their holidays in this corner of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
Giocolandia is more than just an event: it is the highlight of Carisolo's Ferragosto celebrations, a date deeply felt and eagerly awaited throughout the Trentino-Alto Adige region. The program combines playfulness—vintage wooden games, inflatable structures, and entertainment for the little ones—with a convivial atmosphere, featuring craft markets and local products that brighten the square, and a spectacular finale on the night of August 15th.
The most anticipated moment is the evening of August 15th, when darkness falls over the valley. At 10:00 PM, the famous "church fire" takes place, a striking lighting simulation that makes the village church appear as if it were engulfed in flames: a scenic light show that leaves both residents and tourists breathless. Immediately after, at 10:15 PM, the sky over Carisolo lights up with a fireworks display of great impact, framed by the peaks of the Brenta Dolomites and the Adamello. The evening then continues with a dance party and a DJ set that brings the festivities to a joyful close.
Admission to Giocolandia is completely free. The event is one of the most beloved summer gatherings in Carisolo and the Madonna di Campiglio-Pinzolo area, attracting holidaying families and visitors from neighboring towns. Between tribute concerts featuring Italian and international music, children's entertainment with artists like Bimbobell, and the charity raffle organized by the Parish Missionary Group, Giocolandia is the festival that best captures the welcoming spirit and vitality of this mountain community.
Carisolo's 2026 Ferragosto returns with Giocolandia, the festival organized by the Pro Loco in Piazza 2 Maggio. Two days of entertainment for all ages, featuring vintage wooden games, inflatables, craft and local product markets, tribute concerts, and the traditional charity raffle. The highlight remains the evening of August 15th with the 'church fire' and the fireworks display over the Val Rendena.
Giocolandia takes place in Piazza 2 Maggio, in the center of Carisolo (Val Rendena), Autonomous Province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige.
Carisolo can be reached via the SS239 road of Val Rendena, just before Pinzolo. By car: take the A22 Brenner motorway exit at San Michele all'Adige/Mezzocorona, then follow signs for Val Rendena. Parking is available near the square.
Free admission. The festival is held on August 14th and 15th, from the afternoon until late at night.
