Thursday evenings in June featuring video games, cinema, board games, and live music in Piazza Pertinace, Alba.
Giobia Fest is one of the most beloved summer events in Alba, located in the heart of the Langhe region in the province of Cuneo (Piedmont). Every Thursday evening in June, Piazza Elvio Pertinace transforms into a lively, informal space where people gather from aperitivo hour until midnight. The name itself references the word for Thursday in the Piedmontese dialect ("giobia"), marking the recurring weekly appointment.
Designed primarily for young people but open to everyone, the festival was born from a desire to give the square back to the city: evening after evening, the space beside the bust of Emperor Pertinax and the church courtyard fill with lights, sounds, and opportunities to connect. It is an event that celebrates gaming, culture, and the joy of spending time together outdoors.
The format remains consistent year after year, revolving around a few core elements:
Giobia Fest is organized by the Mamaioba group with the support of the San Giovanni association, and has benefited over the years from collaborations with local entities such as DOM Spazi Condivisi, Ludo Inc., Batelman, and Turismo in Langa. It is a completely free event that highlights the open spaces of Alba's historic center and provides a platform for artists and groups from the Langhe, Roero, and Piedmont regions.
For those visiting Alba in late spring, Giobia Fest is the perfect opportunity to experience the city in an informal, evening atmosphereโbetween a board game match, a short film under the stars, and a concert in the square.
The ninth edition of Giobia Fest takes place over three Thursdays in June 2026 on Piazza Elvio Pertinace in Alba, organized by the Mamaioba group with the support of the San Giovanni association. Each evening begins at 7:00 PM with video game consoles and board games provided by the Ludo Inc. association, followed by the evening's main event. Three themes define the month: comedy, cinema, and live music, with a special focus on artists from the Piedmont region.
