The film festival uniting new generations in the heart of Oria
The Generation Film Fest is a film event that brings the historic center of Oria, a town in the Province of Brindisi, Puglia, to life every July. Established in 2022, the festival has grown with each edition to become a recognized fixture in the Apulian cultural landscape, attracting nationally renowned guests, screenings, exhibitions, and educational opportunities to the evocative setting of this Messapian village.
As the name suggests, the heart of the event is the dialogue between Italian cinema and new generations. Alongside evening screenings of films and short films, the program features masterclasses with industry professionals, in-depth talks, and meetings designed to introduce younger audiences to the language of the big screen. Each edition revolves around civic and cultural themes, with a particular emphasis on inclusion, solidarity, and memory.
The festival is conceived and directed by Nadia Carbone, who has spent years building a program that intertwines the past, present, and future of cinema. The event is held with the support of the Municipality of Oria and enjoys the patronage of the Apulia Region – Department of Culture and Knowledge – and the Apulia Film Commission, confirming its deep local roots and the cultural value of the initiative.
The Generation Film Fest takes place in some of Oria's most evocative locations: masterclasses and meetings are hosted in historic town palaces, while evening screenings are held outdoors, amidst cloisters and courtyards, in an atmosphere that blends the charm of the ancient village with the magic of cinema under the stars. The festival is also enriched by guided tours to discover the city and exhibitions dedicated to the world of the seventh art.
For those visiting Salento and Puglia in summer, the Generation Film Fest represents a unique opportunity to combine the discovery of Oria – with its Swabian castle and historic center – with quality cinema evenings, meetings with directors and actors, and a welcoming, participatory cultural atmosphere.
The fifth edition of the Generation Film Fest takes place in Oria from July 10 to 12, 2026, confirming the festival's commitment to the dialogue between Italian cinema and new generations. The 2026 edition focuses on the themes of inclusion, solidarity, and civic engagement, with a journey structured through screenings, masterclasses, talks, and meetings with industry professionals.
The event is held with the support of the Municipality of Oria and the patronage of the Apulia Region – Department of Culture and Knowledge – and the Apulia Film Commission.
Announced guests for the 2026 edition include director Edoardo Winspeare, actress Donatella Finocchiaro, and director and screenwriter Marco Simon Puccioni, who will present the short film "Tutti Giù per Terra" (produced by Gianpietro Preziosa for Inthelfilm), which received a special mention at the 2026 Nastri d'Argento awards.
The festival offers masterclasses, in-depth talks, screenings, and opportunities to meet industry professionals, with a focus on themes of inclusion and civic engagement.
The full program, with detailed times and venues, will be officially presented during a press conference in the weeks preceding the event.
