Over 100 Apulian musicians unite as one giant rock band in Villa Castelli
Apulia Rock'N'100 is a one-of-a-kind musical project: a gathering that brings together over a hundred musicians from across Puglia—guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboardists, and vocalists, both professionals and enthusiasts—to perform together on the same stage as one giant rock band. The event is held in Villa Castelli, a small town in the province of Brindisi, traditionally at the Parco Madre Teresa di Calcutta, and has turned this inland Apulian town into a landmark for live music lovers.
The idea was born in the wake of the famous Rockin'1000, the mega-event that has been bringing thousands of musicians together since 2014 for collective tributes that have gone viral worldwide. Apulia Rock'N'100 is the Apulian version, built from the ground up through video auditions and a community of musicians that has grown with every edition. The repertoire spans across hard rock, heavy metal, Irish and Balkan folk, punk, 1960s beat, classic rock'n'roll, and progressive: past editions have featured tracks by Queen, Metallica, Pantera, Rage Against the Machine, Coldplay, The Beatles, and many others.
The project is led by artistic directors Bonni Lonoce and Giovanni Semeraro, supported by Gabriele Cavallo for technical direction and arrangements, and Fabio Miccoli for content supervision and production. Expert coordinators lead individual sections—guitars, vocals, bass, drums, and keyboards—to ensure dozens of different instrumentalists play in harmony.
The main concert is surrounded by a true street festival: choreography, street performers, food trucks, and stalls serving local Apulian products accompany the audience for an experience that combines music, art, and local culture. Admission is completely free, in perfect harmony with the popular and participatory spirit of the event.
In 2026, the event takes on special significance: it coincides with the centenary of the town of Villa Castelli, which gained administrative autonomy from Francavilla Fontana in 1926. For the occasion, the massive band will blend rock with pizzica—the traditional music of Salento—for the first time, featuring accordions, tambourines, and local brass bands. A bridge between modernity and tradition that tells the story of the musical identity of this corner of Puglia.
The 2026 edition of Apulia Rock'N'100, the fourth, is a special appointment: it falls in the year of the centenary of Villa Castelli, which gained autonomy from Francavilla Fontana in 1926. For the occasion, the great Apulian band of over a hundred musicians brings to the stage 17 iconic tracks from the rock, pop, and metal scene, and offers the absolute novelty of this edition: the fusion between rock and pizzica, the traditional folk music of Salento.
Alongside guitars and drums, there is room for accordions and tambourines, with the participation of the Complesso Bandistico Città de Villa Castelli, the Banda Musicale Città di Martina Franca, and the Armonie d'Itria ensemble, as well as acrobatic performances by ASD Dedalo. A meeting between modernity and tradition that pays homage to the musical culture of the territory. Admission is free.
