Gravel cycling and cycle touring through the Canavese hills, held during the Villareggia Brut Festival
Gèira, Brut & Quadrettoni is a gravel and cycle touring event held in Villareggia, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Turin, in the heart of the Canavese region, Piedmont. The event is closely linked to the Brut Festival, a celebration dedicated to the area's traditional sausage, and offers cycling enthusiasts a day of gravel roads, conviviality, and great food. The name itself reflects the spirit of the initiative: gèira means "gravel" in the local dialect, while brut and quadrettoni refer to the Canavese food and wine tradition.
The event is designed to welcome cyclists of all levels, with two participation modes that share the same route winding through the rolling Canavese hills, across gravel roads and quiet secondary paths.
The route winds along dirt tracks, gravel roads, and some quiet country asphalt, suitable for gravel, e-mtb, and trekking bikes, and is accessible to anyone with basic fitness.
The ride is part of the Brut Festival calendar in Villareggia, dedicated to a typical Canavese sausage made from pork cracklings, tripe, boiled head, and salami paste, recognized by the Slow Food Ark of Taste. The festival offers guided tastings, preparation demonstrations, and performances, providing the perfect backdrop for a day that blends outdoor sports with local culture. Cycling and then enjoying local products is the perfect way to discover the rural identity of this corner of Piedmont.
More than just a race, Gèira, Brut & Quadrettoni is a shared experience: no rankings, just the pleasure of riding together through the hills, stopping for a tasting, and meeting up at the end of the day for the pasta party. Registration includes an event pack, a personalized bike plate, a downloadable photo gallery, and, for those choosing the guided tour, a vineyard tasting and instructor support. E-bike rentals are also available to ensure everyone can participate.
The 2026 edition of Gèira, Brut & Quadrettoni was held in Villareggia during the Brut Festival. The format with two participation modes was confirmed: the self-guided gravel randonnée, with a GPX track sent to participants and routes of approximately 70 km (700m elevation gain) or 40 km (400m), and the guided rando tour of approximately 30-35 km with a vineyard tasting. The meeting point was set for 09:00 in the square for the collection of event packs, followed by a morning departure and the pasta party in the early afternoon at the Polivalente. Participation fees ranged between 25 and 40 euros depending on the chosen format.
Villareggia is located in the lower Canavese area, northeast of Turin, near the border with the Vercelli province. By car, it can be reached via the A4 Turin-Milan motorway (Rondissone or Borgo d'Ale exits) and then via local roads. The nearest train stations are Rondissone or Saluggia, on the Turin-Milan line.
Meet at 09:00 in the main square of Villareggia to collect event packs at the organization's gazebo. Departure is scheduled for late morning, with the pasta party in the early afternoon at the Polivalente hall.
Participation fees range approximately from 25 to 40 euros depending on the chosen format. A medical certificate is required for the randonnée. For registration and information, contact Bike Consultant: tel. +39 335 7355576, email [email protected] (WhatsApp available).
