Four evenings of handmade pasta, music, and entertainment in San Cipriano Picentino
The Fusillo Picentino Festival was created to celebrate a dish that has never stopped being made at home in San Cipriano Picentino: the fusillo, a fresh, handmade pasta that has become the culinary symbol of this part of the province of Salerno. The event's menu revolves entirely around the artisanal preparation of fusilli, served according to traditional local methods and recipes: this is the common thread of the four evenings, serving as much more than just a simple excuse to get together.
The event takes over the town center starting at 8:00 PM, when the food stalls open. Alongside the food area, the organizers set up a dedicated children's play area and an equipped stage area, where live performances take place every evening. Admission is free: you only pay for what you choose to taste using tasting tickets. It is a simple formula, typical of Campanian festivals, that allows you to arrive without a plan and stay as long as you like.
The strength of the festival lies in placing the dining table and the stage on the same level. The calendar alternates between athletic and choreographic performances, DJ sets featuring major commercial hits, live music, and themed evenings: a program designed for a wide audience, ranging from groups of young people and families to those returning to town for the summer. Performances usually begin around 9:00 PM, when the stalls are already in full swing, allowing you to have dinner and then move in front of the stage without missing a thing.
The Fusillo Picentino Festival is promoted by the Riviviamo San Cipriano Cultural Association in collaboration with the Municipality of San Cipriano Picentino. It is a young event, reaching its second edition in 2026, which fits into an already rich local calendar: the town is also known for the autumn Chestnut Festival and the 'Sagra delle Sagre' of the Picentini, a sign of a community that has been working for years to promote its own products.
We are in Campania, a few kilometers from Salerno, where the plains give way to the first slopes of the Picentini Mountains. It is a land of chestnut groves, olive orchards, and small hillside villages, with mountain and inland cuisine that coexists with the proximity of the sea. The fusillo belongs to this very peasant tradition: a humble pasta in terms of ingredients, but rich in the work of the hands, which here is paired with homemade sauces. Those who arrive for the festival will find much more than just a culinary evening: an opportunity to understand how people eat and live in the Salerno hinterland.
Four evenings, from Thursday to Sunday, brought the Picentino fusillo back to the center of the summer in San Cipriano Picentino. The food stalls opened every evening at 8:00 PM, with a menu built around the artisanal preparation of fusilli, served according to traditional local methods and recipes.
In addition to the area dedicated to cuisine, the organization set up a children's play area and an equipped stage area for evening performances. The event was promoted by the Riviviamo San Cipriano Cultural Association in collaboration with the Municipality of San Cipriano Picentino, in the province of Salerno.
The performance program opened on Thursday, June 25, with athletic and choreographic performances by Astrea Sport and continued on Friday, June 26, with a DJ set by Sean Gray, closing on Sunday, June 28, with a tribute to Raffaella Carrà by Enza Ganà, accompanied by the dance troupe of the ASD Ensemble Danse school.
The complete details of all performances were not released by the organizers: the information provided is what was made public by the local press.
The festival is held in the center of San Cipriano Picentino (SA), postal code 84099, in the inland area of the province of Salerno at the foot of the Picentini Mountains.
By car: The town can be reached from Salerno in about twenty minutes via the provincial road that climbs the hill; the reference motorway exit is Salerno. By train: The nearest station is Salerno, connected to the main national lines, from which you can continue by car or local transport services.
Stalls open from 8:00 PM, performances generally from 9:00 PM. Admission to the festival area is free; tastings are paid for by purchasing tickets at the food area cash desks.
On weekend evenings, attendance is higher: it is best to arrive early to find parking in the streets around the center and join the queues at the stalls before the performances begin. June evenings in the hills can be cool, so a light sweater is useful.
