Open-air cinema every Thursday in July in Loreto Aprutino
Fuori dal Cinema is an open-air film festival that brings the big screen to the heart of Loreto Aprutino, a hillside village in the province of Pescara, Abruzzo, every July. Every Thursday of the month, the ex900 space on Via dei Normanni turns into an open-air arena: chairs lined up along the street, the white screen lighting up as darkness falls, and a community gathering to share an evening of film and connection.
The initiative is promoted by the Loreto Aprutino Youth Council, with the patronage of the Municipality, and has become a staple of the local summer. The project was born from the desire of local youth to bring film culture back into public spaces, restoring the squares and streets of the historic center as meeting places. Each edition offers a curated selection of titles, often away from major commercial circuits, ranging from Italian auteur cinema to documentaries and international productions.
The 2026 edition, the fifth consecutive year, features four free-admission evenings, all starting at 9:00 PM:
The 2026 festival is part of the "Arene Interne – nuovi sguardi per territori in cambiamento" (Inland Arenas – new perspectives for changing territories) project, included in the Agire in Rete program coordinated by CSV Abruzzo together with local associations, including Borgolive APS and Contratto Sociale APS.
Nestled among the vineyards and olive groves of the Pescara hills, Loreto Aprutino is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and is famous for its extra virgin olive oil, wine, and the sanctuary of San Zopito. Attending a screening at Fuori dal Cinema means immersing yourself in the intimate atmosphere of the historic center, amidst stone alleys and panoramic views, in an experience that combines the seventh art with the charm of an authentic Abruzzo inland village.
The screenings are open to all and are free of charge, designed for families, young people, and visitors passing through. Fuori dal Cinema is much more than just a summer arena: it is a moment of gathering that strengthens the bond between the community and its territory, valuing the spaces of the Municipality of Loreto Aprutino and culture as a shared asset.
The Fuori dal Cinema 2026 festival returns to Loreto Aprutino with four free-admission events, all at 9:00 PM at the ex900 space on Via dei Normanni.
