The local food and wine tourism festival at Foro Boario in Carpi
In Carpi, in the province of Modena, Freschissimo was born in 2026, a food and wine festival that puts those who cultivate and live the territory every day at its center. For an entire weekend, the Foro Boario – the historic venue that also hosts the Farmers' Market – transforms into a widespread laboratory of tastings, meetings, and discussions, with the stated goal of building a food and wine network capable of enhancing the local excellences of the Bassa modenese.
The heart of Freschissimo is the short supply chain: the products presented and tasted largely come from within a few kilometers of Carpi. The large exhibition area hosts over 40 local businesses, divided between ten wineries and twenty-eight companies active in the food and artisan sectors. It's a way to give a voice to winemakers, farmers, cheesemakers, and artisans who often work away from the spotlight but who preserve the authentic flavors of Emilia-Romagna.
The event is divided into four thematic zones designed to guide visitors through tasting and conversation:
In addition to tastings, Freschissimo offers a series of nine themed talks moderated by farmer and communicator Alessandro Bassoli. Topics range from the value of the short supply chain and biodiversity to environmental sustainability, wine communication, hospitality, and the evolution of contemporary cuisine. It's the more reflective part of the festival, where producers share their stories and engage with the public.
The festival is promoted by the cultural association Memento APS and the food and wine communication studio Foodish, with the patronage of the Municipality of Carpi – Department of Tourism and Economy. A project that, since its first edition, has brought together producers, artisans, associations, and citizens, confirming how food and wine can become a tool for promoting tourism in the Carpi area.
The first edition of Freschissimo transformed the Foro Boario in Carpi into a widespread laboratory of tastings, meetings, and discussions. The event brought together over 40 local businesses, ten wineries, and twenty-eight agri-food and artisan companies, within an ultra-short supply chain radius around Carpi.
Nilo Pacenza (Foodish) explained the initial goal: 'to highlight the food and wine and artisan productions of the Carpi territory and neighboring municipalities,' adding that he was impressed by the positive feedback from both producers and the public. Matteo Aleotti, president of Memento APS, co-conceived the project that united producers, artisans, associations, and citizens.
Among the protagonists of the wine area: Cantina Martinelli, Cantina della Volta, Cantina Bassoli, Cantina Messori, Cantina Roncaglia, Cantina Saetti, Cantina Secula, Orchestra Wine, Podere Beghetto, and Terre Vive.

Freschissimo takes place at the Foro Boario in Carpi (MO), on a weekend in May. The Foro Boario is located a short distance from the historic center and the famous Piazza dei Martiri.
By train: Carpi station is on the Verona–Modena–Bologna line, a few minutes' walk from the Foro Boario. By car: take the Carpi exit from the A22 Brennero motorway, then follow signs for the center. Parking is available nearby.
The event takes place across exhibition areas, talks, and relaxation zones. For precise times, access methods, and details on tastings, it is recommended to consult the official website freschissimo.org and the festival's social media channels.
