The most authentic Abruzzese street food at Marina di Città Sant'Angelo
The Fregnacce, Pallotte Cacio e Ova, and Arrosticini Festival is the gastronomic celebration that brings the Marina di Città Sant'Angelo to life at the end of August, along the coast of the Pescara province in Abruzzo. For three evenings, the seafront square fills with stalls, the scent of charcoal grills, and music: it is the most delicious weekend of the summer in the Angolana area, dedicated to the iconic dishes of the Abruzzese peasant and pastoral tradition.
The heart of the festival lies in the local specialties, prepared according to time-honored recipes:
Everything is accompanied by wine and beer, with stalls managed by volunteers at affordable prices.
Beyond the dining, the festival offers live shows and music every evening: Latin parties, dance orchestras, DJ sets, and revival nights featuring the greatest hits from the sixties to the nineties. A funfair is set up for children, while the final evening traditionally concludes with a prize lottery draw. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is that of a genuine local village festival.
Città Sant'Angelo is one of the most beautiful villages in the province of Pescara, with its medieval historic center overlooking the hills and its Marina opening onto the Adriatic. The festival, organized by the Pro Loco Angulum, is part of the rich 'Estate a Città Sant'Angelo' (Summer in Città Sant'Angelo) calendar, which alternates events between the old town and the coast from June to September. Launched in 2025, the event has quickly established itself as one of the most anticipated gastronomic appointments of the late Abruzzese summer.
The second edition of the festival will be held from August 28 to 30, 2026, at Marina di Città Sant'Angelo (PE), in the seafront square. The dates are confirmed by the official calendar of the 'Estate a Città Sant'Angelo' organized by the Municipality and the Pro Loco Angulum.
As every year, the food stalls will offer the great classics of Abruzzese cuisine — handmade fregnacce, pallotte cacio e ova, sheep arrosticini, and meatballs in sauce — with evening openings and popular prices. There will also be a funfair for children and live music evenings.
The detailed program of shows and schedules will be published by the Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the event.
The detailed program of shows for the 2026 edition has not yet been announced. Based on the established structure of the event, three evenings are expected with food stalls opening at 7:00 PM and live musical performances starting at 9:00 PM (dance music, DJ sets, and revival nights), in addition to the funfair for children and the prize draw on the final evening. The full line-up will be communicated by Pro Loco Angulum in the weeks prior to the event.
