Romagna's greenest run-walk along the Ronco river
The Forlì Green City Trail is now an eagerly awaited event in the sporting calendar of the Municipality of Forlì, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, in Emilia-Romagna. Dubbed "Romagna's greenest run-walk," the event is organized by the association Forlì Trail A.S.D., affiliated with UISP Forlì-Cesena, and was born with a clear purpose: to bring sport to the people, outdoors, without the pressure of competition. It's not a timed race but a participatory event where the focus is on being there, moving together, and rediscovering a green area on the outskirts of the city.
The heart of the route is the bank of the Ronco river, with the meeting point and start at Parco del Ronco Lido, a short walk from the center of Forlì. The course follows a stretch of the ancient Via Romea Germanica, immersed in the riverine greenery. Two non-competitive routes are offered, one of 6 km and one of 12 km, suitable for everyone: trained athletes, trail running enthusiasts, and casual walkers, each at their own pace.
The event's philosophy is "sport for all." At the start, entire families, young and old, running and trekking enthusiasts, and even our four-legged friends on leashes gather. It's a moment of community that values outdoor well-being and the bond between citizens and the natural environment, with constant attention to sustainability.
Each edition of the Green City Trail embraces a local charitable cause: over the years, the event has supported research, prevention, the fight against gender-based violence, and patient care. Solidarity is a core value, conveyed through sport and involving local associations and organizations from Forlì and Cesena.
Beyond the run, the Green City Trail is a celebration: at the finish line, participants will find music, food, refreshments, smiles, and shared moments. It's an opportunity to experience one of the most picturesque corners of the city, rediscovering the Ronco river as a space for socializing, sport, and nature in the heart of Emilia-Romagna.
In 2026, the Forlì Green City Trail reaches its tenth edition, a decade of Romagna's greenest run-walk. The chosen theme is "Reborn Together", a message of community and recovery that also recalls the flood that struck Romagna in 2023.
The 2026 edition, originally set for May 16, has been rescheduled to Monday, June 16, 2026: the meeting is at 6:00 PM at Parco del Ronco Lido in Forlì, with the start at 7:00 PM for a scenic sunset run. The two non-competitive routes of 6 and 12 km along the Ronco riverbank and the Via Romea Germanica are confirmed.
Registrations already made remain valid for the new date; those who have already collected their race pack are invited to present themselves with the official event t-shirt.
The meeting point is at Parco del Ronco Lido in Forlì, reachable by car from the city center in a few minutes. Forlì is served by a train station on the Bologna-Rimini line and by the Forlì highway exit on the A14.
Non-competitive event open to runners, walkers, families, children, and dogs on leashes. Two routes of 6 and 12 km. Registration includes the race pack and refreshments along the route.
