The historic center of Forio relives the emotions of the 1960s
Forio La Dolce Vita is the summer festival that brings the elegance and carefree spirit of the 1960s back to the historic center of Forio every Thursday evening. In this village on the island of Ischia, in the province of Naples, the squares turn into a grand open-air stage to relive the charm of an unforgettable era, complete with music, fashion, and vintage vehicles. It is one of the most anticipated events on the summer calendar organized by the Municipality of Forio.
The medieval heart of Forio becomes the natural stage for the event. The streets and squares are enlivened by musical stations, themed photo corners, and vintage decor that recreate the atmosphere of the Italian economic boom. The format is that of an open-air lounge: you can stroll, dance, listen to great music, and let yourself be swept up in a festive air that evokes the cinema and customs of those years.
The evening is marked by various live music stations spread across the squares of the historic center, with bands and artists accompanying the public from sunset until late at night. There is no shortage of dancing in the square, piano bars, and, above all, the undisputed stars of the era: Vespas and classic cars, displayed and parading through the narrow streets of the village. It is a tribute to an Italy that made lightheartedness and style a way of life.
To make the experience even more authentic, guests are encouraged to wear 1960s-style clothing: scarves, oversized sunglasses, patterned shirts, light dresses, and retro details. While not mandatory, those who participate with a vintage touch help fully revive the magic of the Dolce Vita, perfect for souvenir photos and postcard-worthy atmospheres.
Forio is one of the most picturesque towns on the island of Ischia, famous for its sunsets, the Torrione, the Soccorso church, and the vibrancy of its historic center. Including an event like La Dolce Vita in the summer season enhances the cultural and social heritage of the area and offers residents and tourists one more reason to enjoy the village after sunset, in one of the most beloved destinations in the Gulf of Naples and Campania.
The festival is part of the summer programming promoted by the Municipality of Forio, designed to animate the historic center during the peak tourist months and support local businesses. Together with other events of the Forian summer, Forio La Dolce Vita helps build a continuous and recognizable cultural offering that combines entertainment, tradition, and the island's identity.

Forio can be reached by sea: ferries and hydrofoils connect the island of Ischia to the ports of Naples (Molo Beverello and Calata Porta di Massa) and Pozzuoli. From the port of Ischia, the center of Forio is served by local island buses. During high season, it is recommended to use public transport, given the limited parking availability in the historic center.
