The grape festival in the hillside village of Panza, on the island of Ischia
The Grape Harvest Night in Panza is one of the most cherished autumn events in Forio, on the island of Ischia, Campania. Every year in September, the hillside village of Panza transforms into a large open-air stage dedicated to the grape harvest, an ancient ritual deeply rooted in the island's rural culture and winemaking heritage. The event is organized by the Pro Loco Panza d'Ischia, which has successfully involved the entire village in an evening of music, flavors, and traditions for several editions.
The heart of the festival is the local folk music. In past editions, the streets and squares of Panza have hosted the 'Ndrezzata ischitana, the ancient folk dance of Ischia performed to the rhythm of clubs and drums, the Bottari of the Campanian folk tradition, and the Street Band Aurora, which accompanies the public through the alleys. It is a blend of sounds, colors, and gestures that tells the story of the Panza community's identity and shares the vibrancy of Gulf of Naples village festivals with visitors.
Alongside the music, the absolute star is the wine from the Panza hills. Local food and wine stalls offer typical Ischian products and glasses from Panza wineries, creating a tasting journey that highlights the island's long winemaking tradition. Dishes of rustic cuisine, desserts, and island specialties complete the offering, turning the evening into a true journey through the authentic flavors of Ischia.
The Grape Harvest Night is part of the rich autumn calendar of the Municipality of Forio, designed to bring the village to life beyond the summer season and to promote the cultural and gastronomic heritage of the Panza district. Along with other events dedicated to wine and traditions, the festival helps keep the memory of the harvest alive and strengthens the bond between the local community and the many visitors who choose Ischia even outside the summer months.
The Grape Harvest Night in Panza is confirmed for September 2026 as part of the rich autumn event calendar of the Municipality of Forio, on the island of Ischia. The event, organized by the Pro Loco Panza d'Ischia, will renew the celebration dedicated to the grape harvest with music, folk traditions, and local flavors.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including the exact date, times, and guest musical groups, will be published by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event. As in past editions, folk groups, street performances, and numerous food and wine stalls featuring wines from the Panza hills are expected.
Panza is a hillside district of the Municipality of Forio, in the western part of the island of Ischia. It can be reached by ferry or hydrofoil from the ports of Naples, Pozzuoli, and Procida to Ischia Porto, Casamicciola, or Forio, and then by bus (CS/CD lines and connections to Panza) or by car.
Access to the event is free; food and drinks at the stalls are available for purchase.
The festival takes place in the evening: comfortable clothing is recommended for moving through the village streets. In autumn, accommodation in Forio and Panza offers more availability compared to the peak summer season.
