Three evenings of seafood cuisine in the Acquamorta inlet
The Flegrean Sea Food Festival is the most anticipated summer event in Monte di Procida, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Naples located at the extreme tip of the Phlegraean Fields, in Campania. Every year, at the beginning of August, the Acquamorta inlet—a small tourist harbor also known as Marina di Torre Fumo—transforms into an open-air gastronomic village: tables are set just a few meters from the water, with the silhouettes of Procida and Ischia standing out on the horizon. It is, in all likelihood, one of the Italian food festivals with the most beautiful view.
In 2026, the event reaches its 36th edition and takes place from Thursday, August 6th to Saturday, August 8th, with stands opening at 8:00 PM and free admission. The event is organized by the Associazione Vivi l'Estate, which has been managing it for over thirty years in collaboration with local associations.
The heart of the festival is the made-to-order cuisine: dishes are not prepared in hidden kitchens but directly on the quays, in front of visitors, and served in areas equipped with gazebos and long tables. It is a way to tell the story of the daily relationship between the local community and its sea.
Alongside the association's stands, local restaurateurs and pastry chefs work to offer, in addition to the classic menu, some creative reinterpretations of Phlegraean seafood cuisine.
The gastronomic experience is just the beginning. The Acquamorta waterfront hosts live concerts, folk music performances, and traditional tammorra dances, as well as street performers and comedy shows. There is no shortage of stalls selling local handicrafts, gifts, and typical products. Recent editions have also featured guided tours through the village alleys and the street art murals that decorate the center of Monte di Procida.
Monte di Procida is a community with an ancient maritime tradition: fishing, small-scale shipbuilding, and navigation have shaped its economy and identity. It is no coincidence that the festival enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Monte di Procida and the FLAG Pesca Flegrea, the local action group that promotes the seafood supply chain of the Phlegraean Fields. The event thus functions on two levels: a village festival involving the entire citizenry and a showcase for the catch and wines of a volcanic territory with a strong gastronomic personality.
Those arriving in the afternoon can take advantage of the Acquamorta beach and the viewpoint on the promontory, one of the most photographed panoramic spots in the Phlegraean area. Within a few kilometers, you will also find Lake Fusaro with the Casina Vanvitelliana, the Archaeological Park of Cuma, and the historic center of Bacoli: an itinerary that, combined with the festival evenings, allows you to discover the Phlegraean Fields away from the most beaten tourist paths of Campania.
The 2026 edition of the Flegrean Sea Food Festival is confirmed by the organizers for Thursday, August 6th, Friday, August 7th, and Saturday, August 8th, 2026, once again in the setting of the Acquamorta inlet in Monte di Procida. The event is scheduled to start at 8:00 PM each evening, and admission is free.
The organization remains in the hands of the Associazione Vivi l'Estate, which brings back the proven formula to the harbor quays: seafood cuisine prepared in plain sight, open-air tables overlooking the water, music, and entertainment until late at night. As of now, the full menus and the performance schedule have not yet been released: updates will be announced on the festival's social media channels and official website.
