Open-air, traveling cinema for children and families in Rifreddo
Filmentali x Teste fiorite is the summer open-air film festival bringing life to Rifreddo, a small town in the Po Valley in the province of Cuneo, at the foot of Monviso. The initiative takes the big screen out of traditional theaters and turns it into a shared experience: every screening is free, traveling, and designed primarily for children and their families, though open to the entire community.
The festival combines two spirits. On one hand, Filmentali, the cinematic format created by Giovani di Turno ETS that uses film as a tool for reflection and togetherness; on the other, Teste fiorite - la cultura dei piccoli, the association's project aimed at offering children opportunities to encounter culture as a living, surprising, and daily experience. Theater, reading, cinema, art, nature, astronomy, and philosophy become tools to explore reality and cultivate the joy of discovery from a young age.
The heart of the proposal is its traveling nature: each evening takes place in a different, significant location in Rifreddo, from the Rifreddo Landscape Lab to the Church of San Nicolao, from the Cistercian Monastery of Santa Maria della Stella to the primary school garden. A map of spaces that invites you to rediscover the area through the universal language of cinema, turning corners of the village into places for meeting and sharing.
The selection favors animated titles capable of speaking to both adults and children, addressing themes such as the courage to be oneself, the relationship with the environment, and emotions. The films are not just entertainment, but starting points for family discussions on important issues, in line with the educational spirit that characterizes all activities of Giovani di Turno ETS in the region.
Behind the festival is the association Giovani di Turno ETS, which has built a path in Rifreddo over the years consisting of workshops, moments of dialogue, and cultural initiatives aimed at the community, often in collaboration with MagicBus for artistic workshops dedicated to children. Filmentali x Teste fiorite represents the natural summer continuation of this work, in a town in the Province of Cuneo that makes accessible and shared culture a hallmark of its identity in Piedmont.
The festival kicks off on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 9:00 PM at the Rifreddo Landscape Lab and continues with three other evenings in different locations around the town. All screenings are free, outdoors, and designed for family audiences. The film selection revolves around educational themes such as the courage to be oneself, respect for the environment, and the world of emotions.
The initiative is promoted by Giovani di Turno ETS in collaboration with MagicBus and is part of the broader project Teste fiorite - la cultura dei piccoli, dedicated to the encounter between childhood and culture.
The exact dates of the three subsequent evenings will be announced on the official channels of Giovani di Turno ETS.
Rifreddo is located in the Po Valley, in the province of Cuneo, a few kilometers from Saluzzo. By car, it can be reached from Saluzzo by following the signs for the Po Valley; the nearest train station is in Saluzzo, connected to Turin and Cuneo.
Participation in all evenings is free. Registration is required through the official channels of Giovani di Turno ETS, where all updated information on screenings is also available.
As these are evening open-air screenings, it is advisable to bring a light jacket; some venues do not have seating, so it may be useful to bring a blanket or a cushion.
