About Fiera di San Carlo

The Fiera di San Carlo is one of the oldest events in the Bassa Friulana area: established in 1816 by decree of Emperor Francesco I of Habsburg, every autumn it transforms Aiello del Friuli into a large town market with stalls, a funfair, concerts, exhibitions, and the unmissable food stands featuring the renowned Radetzky-style turkey.

A tradition spanning more than two centuries

Some fairs tell the identity of a place better than any history book, and the Fiera di San Carlo in Aiello del Friuli is one of them. Established in 1816 thanks to a decree by Emperor Francesco I of Habsburg, who authorised the market to coincide with the feast of San Carlo, it is one of the oldest and longest-running events in the Bassa Friulana region. In 2026, it will celebrate its 211th edition, a number that alone suffices to convey how deeply rooted this event is in the community.

What to expect

The fair is a market, a celebration, and a collective gathering all in one. Dozens of stalls offering crafts, local products, and the unmissable second-hand market wind through the streets of Aiello's centre, while the funfair lights up the entertainment zone. There are also exhibitions, vintage car displays, musical moments with live concerts, and the traditional non-competitive walk, the famous Dindiat, which draws walkers from all over the area each year.

Radetzky-style Turkey

The culinary heart of the fair is singular: the Radetzky-style turkey, a signature dish that links Aiello to the Habsburg legacy of eastern Friuli. At the food stands set up by local associations, you can savour the specialities of regional cuisine accompanied by Friulian wines, all in a convivial atmosphere that is the true hallmark of this event.

A community event

Organised by the Pro Loco Aiello e Joannis with the support of the Municipality of Aiello del Friuli (Province of Udine), the Fiera di San Carlo is more than just an event: it is the celebration with which the town closes the beautiful season and comes together around its roots, embracing agricultural tradition, gastronomy, and the joy of togetherness.

Fiera di San Carlo — edition 2026

The 211th edition of the Fiera di San Carlo is expected, as tradition dictates, between late October and early November 2026 in Aiello del Friuli. The usual ingredients are confirmed: market, funfair, concerts, exhibitions, and the Radetzky-style turkey.

The 211th Fiera di San Carlo in Aiello del Friuli will take place, as every year, between late October and the first days of November 2026, around the feast of San Carlo. The precise dates have not yet been announced by the Pro Loco Aiello e Joannis, but the event will maintain its proven multi-day structure.
