A fair that comes from the Empire

Some events measure their history in centuries. The Antica Fiera di San Martino in Cervignano del Friuli is one of them: a traditional fair whose origins date back to the time when the Bassa Friulana was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the result of an imperial concession. With its long continuity — over 150 editions — it is one of the most heartfelt identity events in the area, organized by the Pro Loco Cervignano del Friuli APS.

Between stalls and tradition

The fair maintains the character of large autumn village fairs: the streets and squares of Cervignano fill with stalls selling all kinds of goods, typical product stands, exhibition stands, and demonstrations. It is the time when the community gathers in the streets, amidst shopping, encounters, and the crisp atmosphere of the first cold days.

Gastronomy, music, and funfair

Alongside the market, food stands run by local associations offer the flavors of Friulian cuisine, while concerts and musical events liven up the evenings. One of the most beloved attractions, especially for families, is the large heated tent funfair, which allows you to enjoy the rides sheltered from the November weather.

Cervignano del Friuli is the main center of the eastern Bassa Friulana, a crossroads between Udine, the lagoon of Grado, and the Slovenian border. The Fiera di San Martino, linked to the saint whom peasant tradition celebrates on November 11th, is the ideal opportunity to discover this part of Friuli and experience a popular festival with deep roots.
