The first fair of the year in Storo

The Fiera di Passione is one of the most traditional events in the Municipality of Storo, located in the Chiese Valley in the southwestern part of Trentino-Alto Adige. It is the first market fair of the year, an appointment that ideally opens the town's event calendar and is held punctually on Passion Sunday, close to Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week.

Market stalls in the town center

For the occasion, the streets of the historic center are transformed into a large open-air market. Exhibitors' stalls are set up along Via Cesare Battisti and in Piazza Unità d'Italia, the civic heart of the town, creating a path of stalls that accompanies residents and visitors throughout the day. Many vendors arrive from nearby Lombardy, traveling several kilometers early in the morning to reach the fair in time to set up their stands.

The atmosphere is that of a simple and authentic village fair, where strolling among the stalls becomes an opportunity for the community to meet and a moment of social connection that marks the arrival of spring.

Between tradition and Holy Week

The Fiera di Passione takes place at a specific time in the calendar: the Sunday before Easter, when the religious rites of Holy Week and the town's civic and gastronomic events coexist in Storo. It is considered the 'minor' fair compared to the more famous Fiera dei Santi, which attracts a much larger number of exhibitors and visitors to Storo at the beginning of November; together, the two fairs represent the two traditional market pillars of Storo.

A defining event for Storo

Located at the entrance to the Chiese Valley, at the foot of the mountains that mark the border with Lombardy, the town of Storo preserves a rich tradition of popular festivals and events. The Fiera di Passione is an important part of this: despite its intimate size, it remains a highly anticipated ritual that testifies to the community's bond with its seasonal traditions and the life of its public squares.
