About Sant'Andrea Fair

Every year around November 30th, the historic center of Riva del Garda transforms into the grand Sant'Andrea Patronal Fair, one of the oldest and most cherished traditions in the Upper Garda area of Trentino. With over 230 stalls lining the streets and squares, the fair offers local crafts, regional products, clothing, sweets, and wines. Its origins date back to 1382, when the community sought the protection of their patron saint following a violent earthquake; since then, the fair has been an unmissable fixture of city life.

An ancient tradition of the Upper Garda

The Sant'Andrea Patronal Fair is one of the most deeply rooted events in the calendar of Riva del Garda, located on the Trentino shore of Lake Garda in the province of Trento. Dedicated to the city's patron saint, it is traditionally held on November 30th—Saint Andrew's Day—or the nearest date, symbolically marking the community's entry into the winter season.

The origins: the vow of 1382

Tradition traces the decision to dedicate the fair to Saint Andrew back to the year 1382, when, following a severe earthquake, the citizens of Riva asked for the saint's protection against future calamities. Since then, the event has become an essential appointment, spanning centuries and renewing itself each year while maintaining its significance as a communal and patronal celebration.

Over 230 stalls in the heart of the city

On the day of the fair, the historic center of Riva del Garda comes alive with more than 230 stalls that color the streets and squares from early morning until late afternoon. The route covers the most characteristic spots in the city:

  • Via Bastione, Viale Prati, Viale Roma, and Viale Dante
  • Viale Martiri del 28 Giugno, Viale Alberti Lutti, Viale Damiano Chiesa, and Viale San Francesco
  • Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza della Costituzione, and Piazza Cavour
  • Via Mazzini and Largo Marconi

Among the stalls, visitors can find all kinds of products: craftsmanship and handmade items, household goods, clothing, and accessories, as well as cheeses, cured meats, traditional sweets, and local wines, creating a true journey of taste and artistry.

The heart of the community

The Sant'Andrea Fair is more than just a large market: it is the beating heart of the Riva del Garda community, a moment of celebration where residents and visitors gather to honor tradition. The route also features information stands from various social organizations from the Upper Garda and Ledro areas, highlighting the strong bond between the fair and the local social fabric.

An event for the whole family

Thousands of visitors reach Riva del Garda every year to experience the fair's atmosphere, set against the pre-Christmas charm of the lake and the allure of a historic center rich in heritage. The Municipality provides additional free parking and traffic adjustments to welcome the large influx of visitors, making the day an accessible and convivial experience.

Sant'Andrea Fair — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Sant'Andrea Patronal Fair is expected in Riva del Garda around the patron saint's day, November 30th. Official dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the Municipality of Riva del Garda: the fair is traditionally held on November 30th or the nearest date, enlivening the historic center with over 230 stalls of crafts and local products.

The Sant'Andrea Patronal Fair will return in 2026 to Riva del Garda, faithful to the tradition that links it to November 30th, the patron saint's day. At the moment, the official dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers. As per custom, the fair is expected to animate the streets and squares of the historic center with over 230 stalls featuring crafts, local products, clothing, sweets, and regional wines.
