The Fiera di Ottobre di Delebio
The Fiera di Ottobre is the most anticipated event of the year in Delebio, a municipality in lower Valtellina in the province of Sondrio. Its roots are deep: the event was established by royal decree on January 17, 1809, testifying to the historical commercial importance of this crossroads between Valtellina and Valchiavenna.
For the duration of the fair, stalls invade via Stelvio (the former state road 38) and the internal streets of the town, offering crafts, gastronomy, clothing, and local products. However, the rural and identity heart of the event remains the livestock fair in the Gera area, with the exhibition of cows, horses, goats, and farmyard animals: a living reminder of the valley's agricultural traditions and a meeting point for breeders and curious visitors.
Promoted by the Municipality of Delebio, the Fiera di Ottobre combines shopping, flavors, and tradition, and is one of the events that best tell the soul of lower Valtellina.
