The festival for small-scale producers and rural communities of Salento
FICO! Short Supply Chain and Peasant Food is the event that transforms the Laboratorio Urbano To Kalò Fai in Zollino, a small town in the Grecìa Salentina area of the Lecce province, into a crossroads for producers, farmers, winemakers, and food artisans every May. Born in 2024 and promoted by the Salento Km0 association alongside partners of the SEMInativi project, the festival focuses on a clear vision for the future: valuing the short supply chain, small local farmers, and the rural communities that safeguard the region's biodiversity.
FICO! is an evening with a slow, convivial pace, where food is not just for consumption but a story and a connection. The heart of the festival is the farmers' market, with stalls from small Salento producers offering vegetables, seeds, preserves, cheeses, and local zero-kilometer products. Surrounding the market are natural wine tastings, meetings and talks on agricultural culture, workshops for children, and, of course, live music to close the evening.
Behind FICO! is the ethical network of Salento Km0, which for years has been weaving relationships between virtuous producers, conscious consumers, and third-sector organizations. With the inclusion of the Casa delle Sementi (Seed House), dedicated to the recovery and distribution of traditional vegetable varieties, the festival has also taken on the role of a guardian of Salento's agricultural biodiversity. Zollino, with its Grika identity and rural vocation, is the ideal setting for an event that speaks of land, seeds, and community.
Zollino belongs to Grecìa Salentina, the linguistic island where Griko, an ancient language of Hellenic origin, still survives. Visiting FICO! is also an opportunity to discover this authentic corner of Puglia, far from the beaten path, where peasant traditions are still a living part of everyday life.
The third edition of FICO! Short Supply Chain and Peasant Food brought the Laboratorio Urbano To Kalò Fai in Zollino to life on Friday, May 22, 2026, confirming the growth of a festival born in 2024 and now a benchmark for Salento's agricultural culture. At the center, as always, were small local producers and the theme of biodiversity. The 2026 edition marked the debut of the Casa delle Sementi from Cutrofiano, with the distribution of seeds of traditional recovered vegetable varieties.
The evening intertwined a farmers' market, guided natural wine tastings, family activities, a biodiverse tavern, and live music, in a journey that combined taste, awareness, and conviviality.
