Follonica's first contemporary dance festival, set within the industrial spaces of the former ironworks.
The FFF - Fonderie Follonica Festival makes its debut in 2026, bringing an unprecedented event to Follonica, in the province of Grosseto: a festival entirely dedicated to contemporary dance. The event takes place in the city's most evocative locations, starting with the fascinating industrial archaeology of the former Fonderie area, where the memory of Maremma's ironworking heritage meets international choreographic research.
The FFF is not just a series of performances, but a genuine commitment to supporting and promoting Italian dance on an international platform. The first edition welcomes dancers from thirteen countries, including New Zealand, China, and the United Kingdom, reflecting the project's cosmopolitan spirit. The festival offers a rich program to explore dance through meetings, workshops, artistic residencies, and performances open to everyone.
Among the most notable guests is the Kor'sia company, currently one of the most sought-after names in the European contemporary dance scene. Its founders, Antonio De Rosa and Mattia Russo, will lead creative process sessions with thirty-five professional dancers, culminating in a performance during the final Gala. Morning workshops will be led by choreographers and dancers Giuseppe Spota, Marie-Louise Hertog, and Marta Papaccio.
The heart of the activities is Fonderia 1, which hosts workshops, residencies, and discussion sessions. The Teatro Fonderia Leopolda, housed within Fonderia 2, will host the final Gala, the festival's highlight evening featuring performances, choreographic showcases, and appearances by both resident artists and festival guests.
The artistic direction is entrusted to Daniela Borghini, who took her first steps in dance in Follonica before embarking on an international careerโa return to her roots that gives the festival a special symbolic value. The organization is managed by the PerFormare APS association. With this inaugural edition, Follonica and the Maremma region join the circuit of Italian contemporary dance festivals, offering audiences and professionals a unique opportunity for meeting and training in a one-of-a-kind setting.
The first edition of the FFF - Fonderie Follonica Festival takes place from May 30 to June 2, 2026, with Fonderia 1 serving as the main venue for workshops, meetings, and artistic residencies, and the Teatro Fonderia Leopolda dedicated to the final Gala. Four days of contemporary dance open to the public and professionals, with the participation of dancers from thirteen different countries.
Activities take place in the city's most evocative locations, starting with the industrial archaeology spaces of Fonderia 1.
