The volunteer firefighter festival of Predonico

The Feuerwehrfest Predonico (also known in German as Waldfest der FF Perdonig, the "forest festival" of the firefighters) is the most anticipated summer event in the small hamlet of Predonico (Perdonig in German), a mountain village in the Municipality of Appiano sulla Strada del Vino (Eppan an der Weinstraße), in the Province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol. The festival is organized by the Volunteer Fire Department of Predonico-Gaido (Freiwillige Feuerwehr Perdonig-Gaid) and takes place on the characteristic festival grounds carved out of a forest clearing, at an altitude of about 900 meters along the Mendola ridge.

Three days of mountain conviviality

As per tradition, the event takes place over a long weekend. The opening evening on Friday features a "beer and burger" theme with musical accompaniment by the Partybudl band. On Saturday, the festival kicks into high gear with a concert by Vincent & Fernando, while Sunday concludes on a high note with a midday aperitif and music by Uboot Krainer, all in a typical South Tyrolean atmosphere of folk and party music.

Gastronomy and atmosphere

Under the tents set up in the woods, you will find plenty of draft beer, Würstel, burgers, grilled dishes, and South Tyrolean farmhouse cuisine, all served by the volunteer firefighters. The proceeds from the festival support the activities of the Volunteer Fire Department, the heart of the village's social life. The natural setting of the Predonico forest, with views of the Dolomites and the Bolzano basin, makes this event an authentic opportunity to discover the hospitality of the Oltradige villages.

How to reach the festival

During the event, a free shuttle service is available from the Tetter parking lot and the San Paolo Fire Station (San Paolo/St. Pauls). The festival is part of the rich calendar of association events in Appiano, which enlivens the entire summer in the Oltradige-Bassa Atesina area with Kirchtag, village festivals, and fairs.
