The international music festival in the heart of the island, every June 21st
The Fête de la Musique is one of the most widespread cultural celebrations in the world: founded in France in 1982, it is celebrated every June 21st, the day of the summer solstice, and today it involves over 120 countries and thousands of cities. In Pantelleria, the black pearl of the Strait of Sicily in the Province of Trapani, this event has become a symbolic moment marking the start of the summer season, with music filling the squares and streets of the town center.
The heart of the event is Piazzetta Nazario Sauro, in the town center of Pantelleria. For the occasion, Corso Umberto is closed to vehicular traffic, transforming into an open-air stage. The festivities begin in the afternoon and continue until evening, guiding residents and visitors through a journey of music and conviviality.
The event is curated by the Circolo Culturale Corso Umberto APS, an association very active in the town's cultural life, which enlivens the center of Pantelleria during the summer season with exhibitions, book presentations, shows, and festivals. The Fête de la Musique is part of a rich summer calendar that the association dedicates to the town, promoting public spaces as places for meeting and culture.
Included in the summer events calendar of the Municipality of Pantelleria, in Sicily, the Fête de la Musique represents an opportunity to experience the town in its most authentic and participatory dimension. It is the signal that summer has officially begun on the island, in anticipation of the many events that will enliven Pantelleria in the following months, from the International Moon Festival to the summer cultural reviews.
The 2026 Fête de la Musique in Pantelleria was held on Sunday, June 21st, coinciding with the day that celebrates music worldwide on the summer solstice.
The gathering point was Piazzetta Nazario Sauro, from 3:00 PM, with Corso Umberto closed to traffic in the stretch between the intersection with Via Napoli/Via Cavallotti and the intersection with Corso Vittorio Emanuele. The event was organized by the Circolo Culturale Corso Umberto APS, which included the event in the summer calendar of the Municipality of Pantelleria, in the Province of Trapani.
As per the festival's tradition, participation was free and open to all, in an afternoon dedicated to live music and conviviality in the center of the island.
Pantelleria can be reached by plane from the island's airport (connections with Trapani, Palermo, and, in season, other Italian cities) or by ferry/hydrofoil from Trapani. Piazzetta Nazario Sauro is located in the town center, a short walk from the port.
The event is scheduled for June 21st, starting in the afternoon. During the event, Corso Umberto is closed to traffic.
Admission is free.
We recommend reaching the center on foot given the closure of Corso Umberto to traffic. In high season, it is advisable to book transport and accommodation on the island well in advance.
