The summer festival of Tomba di Mereto with gastronomy, music, and Friulian traditions
In the countryside of the central Friulian plain, where cultivated fields alternate with vineyards, the hamlet of Tomba di Mereto, part of the municipality of Mereto di Tomba in the province of Udine, hosts one of its most cherished festivals at the beginning of June: Festiviter. An event that, in the evocative meadows of the Vicinia on Via San Rocco, successfully combines the tradition of Friulian festivals with original and curious offerings.
The heart of Festiviter lies in its gastronomic stalls, open with many Friulian traditional specialties, accompanied by craft beers and local wines. It's an opportunity to taste the authentic flavors of local cuisine in a convivial and family atmosphere, with outdoor tables and the typical warmth of village festivals.
Festiviter is not just about food. The program alternates cultural evenings, a choral review that celebrates the tradition of Friulian singing, aperitifs among the vineyards, and sports demonstrations. But the truly original touch is the treasure hunt with a metal detector, an unusual activity that entertains both adults and children. The musical evenings feature bands like The Bluegrass Baby and Crotz ta Palud, for a lively and varied program.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Tomba di Mereto, Festiviter is the result of the voluntary work of an entire community that, every summer, dedicates itself to offering days of celebration open to everyone. An event that tells the soul of the central Friulian plain, made of tradition, hospitality, and a desire to be together, and which is worth visiting for those who want to discover the most authentic side of the region.
In 2026, Festiviter will once again animate the meadows of the Vicinia in Tomba di Mereto at the beginning of June. The precise dates will be announced by the Pro Loco. The program includes food stalls with Friulian specialties, cultural evenings, a choral review, aperitifs among the vineyards, live music, and the original treasure hunt with a metal detector.
The detailed schedule will be announced by the Pro Loco of Tomba di Mereto in the weeks prior. Based on recent editions, the festival will span four days:
