The Rocciata, Foligno's Sweet Treat
The Rocciata Festival in San Giovanni Profiamma, a hamlet of Foligno (province of Perugia), celebrates one of the symbolic sweets of Foligno's tradition: the rocciata, a rolled cake filled with apples, walnuts, and raisins, an Umbrian relative of strudel, prepared by the village's volunteer cooks.
Two Festivals in One
For several years, the festival has been combined with the Handmade Gnocchi Festival: at the stalls, you can taste hand-worked potato gnocchi served with traditional sauces, such as wild boar, mutton, or tomato, alongside other typical Umbrian dishes.
Shows and Conviviality
The event, which runs for several weeks between late July and August, alternates good food with a rich entertainment program: evening shows, dance nights, and activities for children with games and entertainment.
One of the most beloved village festivals in the area, it combines the rediscovery of an iconic sweet like the rocciata with the convivial pleasure of homemade gnocchi, in the heart of the Foligno countryside.
Rocciata Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition unites the 32nd Rocciata Festival with the 7th Handmade Gnocchi Festival, in San Giovanni Profiamma, a hamlet of Foligno. The event takes place over several weeks between late July and August.
The star is the rocciata, the rolled cake filled with apples, walnuts, and raisins from Foligno's tradition, alongside handmade gnocchi served with wild boar, mutton, or tomato sauces. Every evening, in addition to good local cuisine, there will be shows, dance nights, and entertainment for children.

How to Get There
San Giovanni Profiamma is located a few kilometers north of Foligno, along the SS3 Flaminia. Foligno is served by the railway (Rome-Ancona and Rome-Florence lines).
